  2. 2. PRINCIPAL’S LETTER Principal Ms. Supriti Chauhan Delhi Public School, GBN, Sector 132, NOIDA School trips are an incredible opportunity for young minds that are constantly seeking information, experiences, and acquiring knowledge. In our experience, when these young minds go beyond the classroom, they cement and build upon curricular subjects and lessons. Outdoor learning helps the students develop a more holistic understanding of themselves, their skills, their curriculum, and how all this ultimately relates to the development of the world. Delhi Public School, GBN, Sector 132, NOIDA, is committed to create a vital link between learning in the classroom, the students’ inner lives, and the world at large. The aim of our institution is to take teaching beyond the walls of the classroom, which involves outward exploration and creativity. We chose this particular program to Gujarat for its unique approach to understand the historical and cultural aspects. We visited several places in Gujarat including Baroda Museum, Statue of Unity, and Sabarmati Ashram. Helping us to organise and implement this journey was a company that specialises in student education travel. EdTerra Edventures brings over ten years of experience of having helped over 30,000 students learn from the diversity of our planet. We are happy to share the success of this collaboration with EdTerra Edventures. We seek to make our students global citizens who actively understand and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Further, from EdTerra’s travel curriculum and to develop 21st Century Skills amongst millennial students, we opted for Student Media Projects, especially EdTerra’s Travel Journalists Program. This magazine — Student Travel Chronicle (Gujarat) is a product of our students’ teamwork to write and collect their journey experiences and impressions in a comprehensive manner. We hope you will enjoy reading this Chronicle and have valuable points to take away from students’ experiences. Finally, we, at Delhi Public School, GBN, Sector 132, NOIDA, would like to acknowledge our teachers. The success of this journey is only possible with their responsible and informed efforts. I would also like to recognise the support and assistance provided by EdTerra Edventures Private Limited in successfully conducting this program. We also thank our parents, who remain our most fervent partners and collaborators for the education of all the students who study and work together. Hello SAMPLE

  5. 5. OUR JOURNEY 01. Team Members Our journey started after we woke up at 2.30 a.m. We were nervous, excited and sleepy. It was time to get ready for our first school trip after lockdown. We were nervous yet excited. We reached the railway station at 4 a.m. and boarded our train. It was a thirteen-hour long train journey in which we played lots of board and card games. We reached Gujarat safely at 6 p.m. On day two, we woke up early in the morning and attended a briefing for our trip after our breakfast. Next, we visited the Baroda museum where we saw beautiful paintings and sculptural marvels in the Picture Gallery. After that, we visited the Laxmi Vilas Palace. There we saw royal architecture and paintings and this helped us gain some new information. Later in the night, we attended garba. Though the palace was crowded, we still enjoyed a lot. On the third day, we again woke up early and had our breakfast. We boarded the bus and after a long passage of time, we reached our destination. The bus journey was quite entertaining as we all danced in the bus. We walked to the Valley of Flowers to see the scenic beauty of the place. We all were mesmerised seeing the gorgeous valley. Next, we went to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s statue, the Statue of Unity. Its height is 182 metres. It is the tallest statue. In the afternoon, we had our lunch at La Pinoz and enjoyed it a lot. On day four, we visited the Amul factory in Gujarat. We saw the automatic manufacturing and production of milk and other dairy products there. Next, we went to see the Sabarmati Ashram that’s situated near the banks of Sabarmati river and was founded by Mahatma Gandhi. We saw the charkha and the river front and also ate some ice-cream there. On our fifth day, we woke up late and left for the train at 1 p.m. after playing some board games. Overall, this was a wonderful experience for us and we learnt a lot! Aahana, Aditya, Atharv, Hasan, Neelambuj, Rishit, Ryan & Saanvi

  7. 7. VADODARA CITY 02. Team Members Aadrik, Adhiraj, Arahna, Aniha, Annen, Arhaan, Mudit, Parth, Rushmeet & Samridhi Visit to Vadodara was a memorable and refreshing one. We had a lot of fun travelling in the bus and staying at the hotel with our fellow mates. We first went to the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery which has many beautiful artefacts by Maharaja Sayajirao III. It was designed by Major Mant and R.F. Chisholm. It contained many beautiful pieces including European statues. We had a great time at Laxmi Vilas Palace. This palace was established by Maharaja Sayajirao III. The palace depicts the spirit of secularism and unity. Everyone should visit this place as it depicts the rich diversity and culture of the place along with its famous cuisine. Vadodara was previously known as Baroda. This city is situated in the state of Gujarat, India. The name Vadodara suggests ‘in the presence of many Banyan trees’ also known as ‘Vata’. The city has around 25-30 names. This city was established by the Gaekwad dynasty. Prime attractions of the city are Baroda Museum, Laxmi Vilas Palace, the traditional dance of Garba, nature gardens and street markets. The Baroda Museum has many different galleries that depict the rich tradition and culture of the place. This museum was inaugurated in 1894. It is the third largest museum in India. It has been awarded with more than fifty awards and certificates. The king purchased all the artefacts from New York and other countries. The museum has a real Egyptian mummy and a skeleton of a blue whale. In total, it has fifteen galleries of different countries and four sections. In the Laxmi Vilas Palace, there are many porches having different architectural styles. The palace is spread over an area of seven-hundred acres, approximately. It has more than one hundred and seventy rooms. This palace has many ancient paintings as well. Traditional dance of the state, Garba, was performed here with proper traditional costumes on. The palace is covered with greenery. In conclusion, the trip was very enlightening and we wish to visit the place again in future.

  9. 9. STATUE OF UNITY 03. Team Members Aarav, Adway, Darsh, Kirti, Munaf, Ojas, Saumya & Siya Statue of Unity, located in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat holds the Guinness World Record for being the tallest statue. It is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhai Patel who is known as the Iron Man of India. He received the title ‘Sardar’ for his efficiency and was greatly appreciated in the Bardoli Andolan. He also participated in the Salt Satyagraha in 1930, serving three months of imprisonment for doing so. Along with pursuing his education, he used to help his father from a very young age. Patel completed his education till seventh grade in Gujarati from a school in Karamsad. Later, he moved to high school at Pettad, a town seven miles from his home. Patel then moved to London in 1910 with a determination to take his legal career forward. There, he studied at Middle Temple Inn, completing his barristership with flying colours. The Statue of Unity is 182 metres tall, built after, approximately, four years of marvellous engineering and hardwork. Statue of Unity tells us how Sardar Vallabhai Patel united our country and wanted the people to live like a family in our beloved country, India. A student can also learn about the partition of India and Pakistan from the history of Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s journey that led to freedom of our country. There are so many cultures in India and Sardar Vallabhai Patel worked really hard to unite them and made Indians realise that all of them are equal.
  10. 10. 11 STATUE OF UNITY It is incredible that behind us is the tallest statue in the world We loved the Valley of Flower for its more than three hundred types of colourful flowering plants and unique photo booths We visited the Statue of Unity Museum, an important centre where we gained extensive knowledge about Sardar Patel and his achievements A heartfelt thanks to the tour guide who apprised us with both historical contexts and facts related to the Statue of Unity
  11. 11. Team Members Ayaan, Dishita, Ekansh, Ishaan, Meher, Tanaya, Udhhav & Vihan Ahmedabad is a prosperous city. It’s also one of the most famous tourist attractions in Gujarat. We went to the Amul factory and Sabarmati Ashram located in Ahmedabad. Amul factory is known for its milk products. It is one of the largest producers of milk products in the whole world. AMUL stands for Anand Milk Union Limited. It procures approximately 26.3 million litres of milk per day. It has hundreds of products of its own. On 26th November, 2000 on the 80th birthday of Dr V Kurien, Mrs. Molly Kurien declared the opening of a museum on this day. Dr V Kurien was known as the Father of White Revolution. His birthday is known as the National Milk Day of India. Tribhuvandas Patel is the founder of Amul. He was going to name it Amulya, meaning something without price but a person suggested the name as Amul and he carried on with it. After visiting the Amul factory, we went to Sabarmati Ashram, one of the four ashrams Gandhiji built. It was named after the river Sabarmati. The ashram is now one hundred and five years old. Maghan bhai Gandhi, the son of Gandhiji’s brother was also the manager of Sabarmati Ashram. Narmada river is connected to Sabarmati river by the dam. The water flows from Narmada river for 165 kilometres and merges with Sabarmati river. Overall, the trip was really an experience. AHMEDABAD 04.

  13. 13. Team Members Aarshita, Aryan, Rayan, Pavni, Pradyun, Saanvi & Vrishti The Sabarmati Ashram was a place where there was no racism. It was a place of relaxation and people used to live at this Ashram as part of a community. Gandhiji stayed here from 1917 to 1930. Gandhiji lived in ashrams for many years. The ashram he lived in was located on the banks of Sabarmati river. The Dandi March also started from here, the Sabarmati Ashram. Sabarmati Ashram is a place known for its peacefulness. It is a beautiful place which also tells us a lot about the history of Gujarat. Many freedom movements started from here, the Ashram itself. Not just the architecture, but the flora and fauna was also astonishing. Looking at the trees and flowers makes you feel peaceful and gives a sigh of relief. In the dawned crisp and bright sunny morning, you can get a beautiful view near the Sabarmati river. Not only is the sunrise a pretty view but looking at the sunset is also a mesmerising one. The hour of dust, with an orangey pink tinged sky near the banks of Sabarmati river is fascinating. We all enjoyed visiting the Sabarmati Ashram because it made us proud to visit a place where the ‘Father of the Nation’ lived and fought for our freedom. SABARMATI ASHRAM 05.
