2. INTRODUCTION
 A former private jet coordinator for Concord Private Jets, Edgar Alacan co-
founded Jets.com in 2008 to provide cost-effective private jet services from
the company's headquarters in New York City. Edgar Alacan also contributes
to organizations such as Pietro's Fight, where he has served on the board of
directors for the past six years.
Dayna and Manni Scarso received the diagnosis of Duchenne's muscular
dystrophy (DMD) for their son Pietro in 2012. Testing confirmed the
diagnosis, leaving them with the knowledge that their son would gradually
lose all muscle function until he ultimately dies from heart or respiratory
failure. The most common fatal genetic disorder worldwide, DMD affects one
every 3,500 male births.
Desperate to save their son and raise awareness of this common muscular
disease, the Scarsos founded Pietro's Fight. Each year they host a variety of
events to raise funds for research in the field. They also seek individual
donations to support the race to find that cure.
