Please read these installation instructions in their entirety BEFORE you attempt to install Cubby Compartment. Cubby Compartment has been designed to provide a more efficient and ergonomic storage solution for your Model S and Model X cubby. We’ve created an Installation Video that can be viewed at www.evannex.com. IMPORTANT: The installation of the Cubby Compartment is very simple and requires no tools or other materials. Quick Start Installation Steps: Step 1. Clean out your cubby, being sure that all items in it are removed and that the rear cubby wall is clean (see Figure that follows). You can use alcohol on a paper towel to clean the rear interior wall of the cubby, if it appears dirty. Step 2. Remove the white tape backing for the magnetic plate (called a “keeper”) as shown in Figure to the right. Be sure the keeper is centered on the small cylindrical magnet on the outer rear wall of the Cubby Compartment. Step 3. Slide the Cubby Compartment into the cubby and press the front of Cubby Compartment toward the front of the vehicle so that the keeper adheres to the back interior wall of the cubby.

Pull the Cubby Compartment out (see Operational Notes below) and press the keeper with your fingers to ensure a tight bond on the rear interior wall of the cubby. If for some reason the keeper did not adhere in Step 3, press it in place by hand in the center of the rear cubby wall. Step 5. Slide your Cubby Compartment into the cubby, and your installation is complete. Operational Notes: Over the years since the Model S was introduced to the market, Tesla has made a number of small changes to the cubby configuration, resulting in small variations in the cubby geometry. These include a different rubber/foam base material and slight modifications to the aluminum trim geometry on some versions of Model S. These small variations can affect the manner in which Cubby Compartment slides into and out of the cubby opening. To date, the Model X cubby characteristics have remained unchanged. Given these small variations for Model S, please note items 1 and 2 below: 1. If you experience difficulty removing the Cubby Compartment, press down gently on the handle while pulling outward. The Cubby Compartment should slide right out. 2. If you continue to experience difficulty removing the cubby, you may own a Model S with a cubby that has a odd rubber base or foam configuration (see Figure below). It may be that you’ll have to trim the material slightly to allow the Cubby Compartment to slide properly. To accomplish this use an Exacto knife or an industrial razor blade and trim the rubberized foam (dashed line) to the level of the hard plastic cubby edge (solid line). In addition, please note these generic operation notes: 3. The magnetic hold mechanism (the cylindrical magnet and keeper) has been designed to keep the cubby in place in most driving conditions. However, under very heavy acceleration (think: “insane” or “ludicrous” modes), the Cubby Compartment will slide outward. 4. The Cubby Compartment has been designed to slide completely out of the cubby with no stops. This has been done to ensure easy access to all items in your Cubby Compartment; for cleaning of the Cubby Compartment, and to keep installation simple and product cost manageable.
