2. 2. Mission
As special education advocates, our mission is to help families obtain the most comprehensive and effective exceptional student education services possible, in order to remove all barriers to growth, learning, and emotional well-being, in school, at home, and in the community.
3. 3. Philosophy
We believe that the only Free Appropriate Public Education for children with disabilities is one that truly seeks to maximize the potential of each child in special education; it should not, out of monetary considerations, deliberately withhold instructional and therapeutic interventions that could provide for further academic and developmental progress. To that end, the financial resources expended upon public education must be proportioned according to need, so that every child is afforded the chance to achieve success.

4. 4. Our Commitment
Acknowledge Parents as the Experts on their Child
Agree upon Clear Goals and Expectations
Understand each Child’s Unique Needs
Explore all Educational Options
Position Children for Optimal Growth, Development, and Academic Achievement
5. 5. Your Needs
While working closely with families, we have identified the following needs, which we will carefully address:
Your child’s development, unique strengths and individual learning style
Comprehensive understanding of the disability, and all related challenges in school, home, and community
Focus on your child’s education-not the school’s budget
Emphasis on the whole child, not the disability
Consideration and respect for your wishes
Clear goals, and a plan for achieving them
Support at IEP meetings to ensure your concerns are addressed, procedure is followed, and FAPE is upheld
6. 6. Leveraging Our Resources
As Special Education Advocates, we at ESE SOS fully leverage our knowledge, experience, and professional training through:
Interpretation and synthesis of all assessment data and professional diagnosis to inform meaningful IEP goals
Understanding the application of IDEA, NLCB, and 504 to afford children with disabilities academic success
Knowledge of best, research-based practices in Exceptional Student Education
Commitment to keeping informed and current regarding changes in education/disability law, the responsibilities of local education agencies, and community resources
7. 7. Empowering Parents
Informed, fully supported parents are the strongest advocates for their children
By law, parents are equal IEP team members-We believe parents are the most important team members
We will assist you in preparing a plan of action for your child’s IEP meeting, and ensure school personal listen to you!
