2. 2. When force is applied on steady object, it leaves its place . This condition is called as motion. This means when any object is moves from one place to another place, it is in moving condition. Distance travelled in specific time is called as Speed. If large distance is travelled in less time , it is called as Fast Speed. Ex.: Car has fast speed. If less distance is travelled in more time it is called is Slow Speed. Ex.: As compared to car , cycle has slow speed. 2 © Jnana Prabodhini Educational Resource Centre
3. 3. Like fast or slow , motion has more types. Linear motion :- Ant moves in one direction. Vehicles moving on road in one direction . The speed of ant or the vehicle is called has Liner motion. Speed to travel fix distance in specific time is called as constant speed. Object falling from height has linear motion but not constant speed. 3 © Jnana Prabodhini Educational Resource Centre
4. 4. Oscillation Motion:- Wings movement of birds , Movement of swing from one pick to another pick are example of Oscillation motion. Moving from one pick to second pick and coming back to first pick is called oscillation. Speed due to oscillation is called oscillation speed. 4 © Jnana Prabodhini Educational Resource Centre
5. 5. Rotary Motion :- Earth takes 24 hours to rotate around itself. It takes 365 days to move around the sun. While rotating, the moving object passes through specific point or place. Such speed is called as rotary motion. Ex. :- Hands in a clock. 5 © Jnana Prabodhini Educational Resource Centre
6. 6. Irregular Motion :- Some objects move in irregular pattern. It does not follow any pattern while changing it’s place. Such movement is called as irregular motion. Objects moving in irregular pattern changes its direction constantly. 6 © Jnana Prabodhini Educational Resource Centre
7. 7. Circular Motion :- Wheel of stitching machine, wheel of flour mill move in circle. Objects moving in circle has circular motion. Fan, Joint wheel, merry -go -round, are examples of objects having circular motion. 7 © Jnana Prabodhini Educational Resource Centre
8. 8. Time taken by object to travel distance between two points gives speed. Distance travelled by an object in unit time is the speed of object. Formula for Speed :- Speed = Distance traveled / Time taken by the object to travel the distance Unit of speed in MKS is meter/second.
