Highlights of Interviews and Surveys
• PT: Road dependency is high in all cities. Central
Government driven railway investments are
raising.
• Transport Infrastructure: Integration of road,
railway and waterborne is poor when you
consider safety and accessibility.
• City Logistics: Integrated City Logistic Master
Plans and Capacity Building is neccessary.
• SUMP: Very new for Turkish cities however
metropolitan cities have similiar process while
developing Transportation Master Plans.

  • #9 Interviews and Surveys took place within five cities in Turkey. Including local authorities from first three biggest cities İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir, Largest city Konya and most transit city Kocaeli. There have been also interviews with ministry of transport and ministry of development.
  • #10 Ministry of Transport do not have any authority over PT and Infrastructure however metro cases like in Ankara and Istanbul they used governmental budget and their own tendering process. If the infrastructure should be implemented in intericty roads again the National Highways
  • #17 Strongest cluster for Turkish cities.
  • #20 Most problematic cluster for Turkish cities.
  • #23 Since cities do not have any authority related to logistics this cluster is also problematic however less concerned by them. Moreover, cities developed their own solutions for city logistics.
  • #26 SUMP is a nisch subject and there is not much for strength and weakness however there are good opportunities.
