1. 1. My Muesum
By: Elizabeth Ksiazek
2. 2. Adoration of the MagiRubens, Peter Paul
3. 3. Visual elements and principles of design
The use of lines is used in this painting to point towards baby Jesus and show how important he is and that everyone is looking at him
Baby Jesus is used as a focal point in this picture to show the important of the “new born king”
The element of light is also used to show the significance of the new baby Jesus and how important he is
4. 4. I choose this piece because I decided to go with the morning to night theme for my painting with also the life of Jesus
Also, I choose this painting because the painting shows the birth of Christ and all his followers coming to see him for the first time
Lastly, I choose this piece because at the top of the painting it looks like the angels are pulling back the night time sky and starting the new day and the beginning of my collection
Why I choose this piece
5. 5. The Virgin and Child between two AngelsMemling, Hans
6. 6. Visual elements and principles of design
This painting has the elements of balance but that Mary is balanced in the middle by an angel of each side of her
The painting also has the element of a focal point by that you are drawn to Mary holding baby Jesus in the middle of the painting and away from the fading landscape in the back
A principle of design used in this painting is the element of linear perspective creating a horizon with a fading landscape in the background
7. 7. Why I choose this piece
I choose this piece because I think it goes next in order in the life of Jesus depicting him as a child in this picture
I also choose this picture because of the vantage points and fading landscape of the picture which tell a separate story from the picture up front of Mary, her son and the two angels
8. 8. The Garden of Earthly DelightsBosch, Hieronymus
9. 9. Visual elements and principles of design
One element in this painting used is the use of shapes. It uses circles, cylinders, and triangles to depict the different people and objects in the painting
Another element used is value but that light is contrasted each of the different sections by getting darker to depict the changing times of day and moods
The element of color is also used to tell the story of day and the progression from light to dark, with light colors to dark colors
10. 10. I choose this piece because I thought it was a good center piece for my museum
The three different sections of the painting tell a story of a day starting with the morning sky, going next to the daytime and then lastly to the dark night
Lastly I choose the piece because of the interesting and different creatures and objects in the three different sections, that allowed me to use it has a central piece
Why I choose this piece
11. 11. Agony in the GardenTitian [Vecellio di Gregorio Tiziano]
12. 12. One visual element used in this picture is cross-hatching, the cross hatching helps show the darker vs. lighter shaded areas
Chiaroscuro is also used in the painting by showing the importance of the light shinning down on Jesus and then fading to dark and the “lesser” important parts of the painting
The use of color was also used as important element in this painting by that the only thing with color in it is Jesus which the artist wants you to concentrate on
Visual elements and principles of design
13. 13. Why I choose this piece
I choose this picture because it went with the life of Jesus theme with him asking God why he has to give up his life in this scene
I also choose this picture for all the hidden images like the picture like the miner and the dog that you miss because you are focusing on Jesus and the light around him
14. 14. Dead Christ Held up by an AngelCano, Alonso
15. 15. Visual elements and principles of design
Chiaroscuro is used as a visual element once again in this painting to show the fading of dark to light in going from the image of Jesus dying to the start of the day and starting a new
The element of contour hatching is also used in the sky in the painting by making the lines in the sky and the clouds more visually appealing and to show the new day
16. 16. I choose this piece because I thought it was a good end of my life of Christ theme with the end of Jesus' life after he was hung on the cross
Also what I like about this piece is that the angel washing the blood of Jesus makes it look like it is also washing and opening up a new day
Why I choose this piece
17. 17. I would organize the painting by putting the Garden of Earthly Delight on a back wall all by its self
Then I would put Adoration of the Magi and The Virgin and Child between two angels on the left side of the Garden of Earthly Delight
Lastly I would put Agony in the Garden and Dead Christ Held up by Angel on the right side of the Garden of Earthly Delight so it tells the story of Jesus' life
