  1. 1. Study https://unihub.mdx.ac.uk/study/library Requesting books for postal loan (Distance Learners)
  2. 2. Distance Learners can request print books for postal delivery https://libguides.mdx.ac.uk/distancelearners/register Students enrolled on distance learning programmes will be automatically registered as distance learners with the library. This means that when you request a book on Library Search, it will be posted to the address you have recorded on MISIS. This guide explains how to use Library Search to request books for postal delivery.
  3. 3. Find the book you need using Library Search Select ‘Library Search’ from the list of resources in MyLibrary. myUniHub > MyStudy > MyLibrary > Library Search
  4. 4. Sign-in to Library Search Click on ‘Sign-in’, choose ‘Middlesex University’ and use your university email address. Signing-in enables you to access full text resources, check your library record, request items, create lists, save searches, create alerts and export references to RefWorks.
  5. 5. Search for the book you want For help on how to find a book see our guide: https://www.slideshare.net/EISLibrarian/library-search-4-finding-books
  6. 6. Click on the title
  7. 7. Click on ‘Request’ This book is on loan* to another user and this is the date when the book is due back to the Library. Once the book is requested, the current borrower will have to return the book by this date i.e. the book will not automatically renew. * Books can be requested for postal loan whether they are already on loan to another borrower or not i.e. book is on the shelves in the library.
  8. 8. Click on ‘Send Request’…. ….if your request has been successful, you will see this message: “Your request was successfully placed”. Click on the ‘X’ to return to your search results
  9. 9. The book(s) will be posted to your chosen address The book will be issued to you for the duration of its loan period i.e. 7 days or 28 days plus an additional 10 working days to allow for delivery and return There is no cost for this service, but you are responsible for posting the book back to the Library. More information will be included when the book is posted to you. If you have any questions regarding postal delivery of books or are experiencing any difficulties with this service, then contact our Distance Learning Support Team: Email: lrdlsu@mdx.ac.uk
