3. THERE IS NO FUTURE IN ANY JOB. THE FUTURE LIES IN THE HANDS
OF THE PERSON WHO HOLDS THE JOB. – GEORGE CRANE
Don’t just be a Manager; become a Managerial Leader.
Self Investment is the best investment; the returns shall
be worth 30% or more…….
Don’t worry about resources; become resourceful
Resourceful is the ability to overcome problems or to
make do with what is available to create a solution.
(ingenious, imaginative, inventive, creative. quick-witted,
clever, bright, sharp, talented, gifted, able, capable.
spirited, enthusiastic, ambitious, energetic, vigorous)
4. We need a blend of both leaders and managers to lead
global organizations in the current business
environment.
This role can be called a managerial leader—someone
who can reshuffle their roles and responsibilities
according to the situation to accomplish goals.
You become significant when you solve significant
problems
Significance is the quality of being worthy of attention;
importance. We become significant to mankind only
when we are able to handle complex challenges & touch
other people's lives.
5. 6 INVALUABLE STEPS TO A BRILLIANT CAREER
(STEPS, TIPS & BENEFIT)
Specialized Knowledge, Updated Business Skills & Brilliant
Attitude (put all of these into action)
Knowledge will not attract money, unless it is organized, &
intelligently directed through practical plan of action. Knowledge
is not power, it is only potential power. It becomes power only
when, it is organized into definite plan of action & directed to a
definite end. Educo – Meaning to educe, to draw out, to develop
from within.
Enroll for online programs, attend seminars, read books
(management, financial, business), see videos of great men
& women, associate with people who are successful in your
field of expertise. (HR with Finance or Engineering
Background)
When contribution towards productivity increases, you will
be visible to the Top Management.
6. Do more than you are paid for. Jack Welch, EX CEO,
GE says customers provide job security; organization
doesn’t. If you are a Manager, take the responsibilities of
the 2 next higher positions & carry out those functions in
your existing position.
Handle the tasks in the order of sequence & priority;
Spend time only in those vital projects, tasks,
functions which will give significant returns for the
organization.
You will be termed as a High Potential & you will
supersede most of your colleagues in pay &
promotion.
7. Process is infinitely more valuable and important
than the result. The price must be paid & the process
must be followed. It describes how things are done and
then provides the focus for making / altering / changing /
correcting them better to get the right results.
Dhoni: I control my emotions better than others. (
Anger, frustrations, reactions, disappointment etc).
Top Leadership recognizes only achievement.
Achievement leads to a sense of satisfaction,
fulfillment & surge in self worth.
8. Be people oriented. In your daily duty of 8 hrs+ or so, you
connect with bosses, colleagues, subordinates, vendors,
customers, consultants to an extent of 5 hrs+ (through mail,
phone, interaction, messages etc)
Don’t just be a IQ person. Be an EQ person to understand
the moods, feelings, temperament, behavior of others to
get the best out of them. (Don’t just be a brain person; be
a heart person; people move when emotion is moved).
People Skills & People Management are important.
Handling people & getting the best out of them is one of
the most essential management skill. If you get this skill
right, you will be a front runner.
9. Communicate amazingly. Speak the language of business so
well that the people love to listen to you. Listen so well that
people love to speak to you. Listen with mind & heart. Engage
people while they are at work.
The Vision / Mission of the Top Leadership Team needs to
be percolated down the line to the lowest category
employees so that they understand the way it has to be
understood.
If you are able to hold the attention of your bosses,
employees, customers (with facts, figures, numbers), you
bring improved team morale, stronger partnerships, build
relationships, increased productivity)
10. Be Tech Savvy. Don’t compete with technology& do those jobs
which the technology doesn’t do. Use technology for efficiency &
effectiveness which culminate into productive results.
Ex: If I am able to complete the content within the allotted 20
minutes, I am termed to be Efficient. By virtue of my presentation, if
the participants is able to understand these concepts with clarity &
consider changing their behavior, then I am termed to be Effective.
Skills for tomorrow. (People Management, Decision Making,
Judgment, Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, Creativity, Time
Management)
The recipe is simple: add value.
Add value to yourself, to others, to the market.
That’s how you grow yourself, your wealth, and your impact.
11. THINKING IS MULTIFACETED
Thinking: Today, thinking is a premium. What you think is
what you get. Want to become a great thinker or a good
thinker. Consider becoming a thinker. If you become a thinker,
you will need to produce a bunch of poor or mediocre ideas.
By practicing & developing your thinking daily, your ideas will
become better. Your thinking ability is determined not by your
desire to think, but by your past thinking. To become a good,
thinking, do more of thinking. Once the ideas start flowing,
they get better. Once they get better, they keep improving.
Different thinking skills: Big Picture Thinking, Focused
Thinking, Creative Thinking, Realistic Thinking, Strategic
Thinking, Possibility Thinking, Reflective Thinking,
Questioning Popular Thinking, Shared Thinking, Unselfish
Thinking, Bottom Line Thinking
12. Imagination: It is a work of the mind to create images, sensations &
concepts. It is said that man can create anything which he can imagine
(create big picture).
Creativity: It is the capability or act of conceiving something original or
unusual. Innovation is the implementation of something new. Invention is
the creation of something that has never been made before and is
recognized as the product of some unique insight.
Risk Taking: The act or fact of doing something that involves uncertainty.
Never maintain status quo. Take a project which you have not done,
handle an irate customer, stretch your JD, understand the minds of Top
Leadership Team. Progress = Happiness
Managerial Courage: Tactfully dispenses direct and actionable feedback;
is open and direct with others without being intimidating; deals head-on
with people problems and prickly situations.
13. ENRICH(DEVELOP) YOUR EMPLOYABILITY – FOR
BETTER PAY & FASTER PROMOTION (MANTRA)
Don’t just go through the day; grow through the day.
Don’t wait for things to happen; make things happen (Put
your specialized knowledge into action steps
passionately with a bigger purpose in mind)
Develop, Build & Handle People well. Give meaningful
& purposeful work to your team. (Human Beings are
creatures of emotions)
Bring value to the market place. (Customers provide
job security & not the organization) Have a growth
mindset, Offer more value, Sharpen your skills, Work
harder on yourself, Handle time well, Build employees,
Handle difficult customers
14. Update, Upgrade (advance) & Upscale all the
time. Learn, Relearn & Unlearn. (Be the change
agent)
Be tough with yourself on the job; take life easy.
(Put your physical, mental & emotional energy to
work as our energy is in limited supply. Be focused,
disciplined & effective in communication)
15. Strategy: You are earning 6 Lakhs Per Annum &
you are seriously considering to earn 12 Lakhs Per
Annum in a period of 2 years or
more…………………………………..
You work for 200 days in a year out of 365 days
(200 days X 8 hours = 1600 hours)
Divide 6 Lakhs by 1600 hours; you get 375 Rupees
per hour. Now, divide 12 Lakhs by 1600 hours, you
get 750 rupees per hour.
For earning 750 rupees per hour, you cannot
continue with the same role. You need to upgrade,
upscale in terms of knowledge & competence.
When you start exhibiting & delivering, you will get
the increased salary & position you are looking for.
