  • Sofisam is a website with the aim to give guidance to civil servants that cooperate with social enterprises in their daily work in jobcreating, rehabilitation etc.
  • MellanMålet is an association that started in 1996 and was founded in Stockholm by people with psychotic problems and their relatives. Most are at MellanMålet from six months to 1.5 years, and then go to work, study or work experience. Currently, five have received a Development Employment at MellanMålet. 2009 was one hundred participants in the activity. Employment Service has procured 40 seats in the so-called RESA- project for people with mental disabilities. Thanks to the RESA-project MellanMålet can develop the business and expects that in 2010, double the number of participants. The RESA-project is a collaboration between the Employment Service and the Social Insurance service to examine the opportunities for long-term sick with mental disabilities in rehabilitation and daily acitivities in WISE. The initiative has been very successful. About 23 percent of participants have found employment.
  • Inuti is a daily activity with artistic direction for people with intellectual disabilities and / or autism-like syndrome and is run as a social work cooperative. Totally Inuti offer more than 40 people entitled to assistance under LSS a place on Inuti.
  • Each co-operatives in The Way Out! Consortium is an independent business association and must bear their own costs. The way out! Consortium live on a service fee of the other cooperatives. Each cooperative has a contract with the consortium on what it will manage in terms of management, employer liability, environmental liability, and more.
  • Basta is a user-led social enterprise. This means that in both theory and practice will power and influence over the business lies with people who were previously socially excluded, depending on a history of severe drug use. Virtually all positions of responsibility in the company of the Board, Management and Operations are held by people who previously rehabilitated themselves on Basta. Over Ninety-five percent of the more than 80 people who live and work in Basta have this background.

    2. 2. WISE´s runs business - with the aim to integrate people into society and into a working life - create involvement by co-workers (enforces empowerment processes) - reinvest the company profits - are independent of public authorities

There are about known 350 Wise's in Sweden – which are now being listed by Tillväxtverket Most of them are both “transit enterprises” and have the objective of creating fix positions for their workers. Approximately 10 000 persons has their daily activities in WISE, employed or in training or rehabilitation.
    4. 4. WISE operate in a lot of different sectors as catering, in-household services, high quality handicraft, day-care for dogs, conference-centers, lego and a lot of other sectors. They also deliver and get paid for services in the field of rehabilitation, work-training, habilitation etc
    5. 5. WISE in Sweden are private businesses, often cooperatively, managed and owned. The economic risk level assumed by the social enterprises varies a lot. Most of them take low risks as they operate in fields that do no acquire big investments and they build the company and the business ideas on cooperation with public sector.
    6. 6. The Swedish government has an explicit interest in WISE ´s in their aim to create work opportunities for groups with special needs on the labour market. A national action plan for WISE was decided on in April 2010: information activities and studies on financing, statistics, employment support and a regulation. There is no legislation for social enterprises in Sweden. The companies use the same legal forms as all other companies. Most current is “economic associations” (cooperatives).

The public employment service needs to get the possibility to form a directed WISE programme with rules that are adjusted to the conditions for WISE (empowerment, cooperatively owned business etc). Access to capital for investments and development, loans, credits and subsidies Strengthened and adjusted “business advice” (Coompanion and others) The use of Public procurement has to be developed and adjusted to the conditions of WISE
