There are about known 350 Wise's in Sweden – which are now being listed by Tillväxtverket Most of them are both “transit enterprises” and have the objective of creating fix positions for their workers. 5. 5. WISE in Sweden are private businesses, often cooperatively, managed and owned. The economic risk level assumed by the social enterprises varies a lot. Most of them take low risks as they operate in fields that do no acquire big investments and they build the company and the business ideas on cooperation with public sector.
  6. 6. The Swedish government has an explicit interest in WISE ´s in their aim to create work opportunities for groups with special needs on the labour market. A national action plan for WISE was decided on in April 2010: information activities and studies on financing, statistics, employment support and a regulation. There is no legislation for social enterprises in Sweden. The companies use the same legal forms as all other companies. Most current is “economic associations” (cooperatives).
