Incremental Innovation of Policy and Practice • Most of the issues around academic Integrity are well understood • Two-way approaches emerge: prevention and penalties • Prevention: Clear communication to students and staff, introductory courses to raise awareness and train students in academic practice (compulsory?), designing plagiarism out of assessment, authentic and personalised, technology to prevent • Penalties: international and national frameworks and definitions, national legislation, innovation in technology to detect of plagiarism, agreed approaches to investigate suspected misconduct, wholistic approaches to penalties at institutional levels • Institutions are on the case, developing and innovating incrementally, proactive and reactive to internal and external conditions
