  4. 4. About India Association of MemphisIndia Association of Memphis (IAM), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, wasincorporated in 1980 with culture, education, social and charitable goals. IAMhelps organize activities to foster a sense of community among people withsimilar beliefs, aims, and ideals. IAM’s mission is to:  Provide education related to India and to celebrate her cultural diversity  Assists the Indian community adjust to the Memphis area  Help its members be an active part of the community  Promote socio-cultural interaction  Facilitate fund raising for charities in the community as well as abroadIAM caters to ~11,000 people of Indian descent living in the Mid-South areaIndia Fest 2012
  5. 5. 2010 Census – National Demographics • Indian population in the US has increased exponentially over the past few years to become the second largest population group after China with 3.14 Million Indian-Americans. • With an average annual growth rate of 10.5%, it makes Americans from India and their descendants the fastest growing ethnic group in the U.S. – More than 300,000 Indian-Americans work in the Information Technology sector. – 15% - percentage of Silicon Valley start-up firms owned by Indian-Americans. – Nearly 10% of the physicians in the US are of Indian origin. – $69,470 - the median income of Indian-American families, nearly double the national average – 200,000 - the number of Indian-American millionaires (Source: Merrill Lynch). – The estimated purchasing power of the Indian community is over $25 billion – Around 35% of the hotels in the U.S. are owned by Indians – More than 5,000 Indian-Americans serve as faculties in the universities across America. – 64.4% - percentage of Indian-Americans over the age of 25 who have a college degree (BA or higher)Source: Voice of Indian-Americans India Fest 2012

  8. 8. What is India Fest? India Fest is the annual celebration bringing people together to celebrate Indian culture, food, music and art. Since it inception in 2003, India Fest has grown to an annual attendance level of 8K+ guests. The Agricenter venue showcases:  Bazaar Section: Experience a vivid kaleidoscope of Indian music, food, art, fashion, language and literature. The multiple kiosks will bring alive various facets of India, including an unforgettable gastronomical experience  Talent Show: A Talent Show Contest runs concurrent to the Bazaar Section and will exhibit Indian dance and music performed by local talents  Food Demo: For all the food enthusiasts a way to learn and try out new recipes and cuisine from across India’s varied cuisine  Kids & Youth Corner: Kids get to explore India through Indian story time, dance lessons, various engaging and learning activities  Cultural Performance: Performance by various individuals showcasing India’s diverse culture and heritageIndia Fest 2012

Goals & Objectives of India Fest 2012• Create a fun filled & safe environment to celebrate the 10th Anniversary edition of India Fest• Expand Corporate participation beyond sponsorship to leverage employee diversity channels to promote India Fest 2012• Marketing goal to increase attendance to 10,000 with increased focus on diverse attendees• Expand partnerships with Schools and Youth Support organizations to increase awareness of Indian traditions & culture among the mid-south youth• Enhance the image of India & Indian community in the mid-south through strategic alliances with Memphis organizations• Build the next generation of leaders by providing an opportunity to lead critical IF work streams• Execute the event with a sense of community service, upholding the values of Indian Culture, ethics & team spirit, while adhering to the published IAM By-laws and Procedures & Policies India Fest 2012
