In fact, the number of petrol stations is declining as more people opt for electric when they upgrade their vehicles. Some of the petrol stations that are still around offer electric charging as an additional service. CHARGING POINTS Approximately once every nine minutes, a new electric car is registered in the UK. In December 2019, there were over 255,000 electric cars on UK roads. The market has seen year-on-year growth for eight years to the end of 2019, and electric cars now make up almost 6% of total new car registrations in the UK.
