Survey by Group 5

 1. 1. 5
 2. 2. In this presentation, you will learn:

Location of the survey

Findings and Observations

Feedbacks

Conclusion

Recommendations

Photos

Map

 3. 3. Introduction

Survey Time: 8:00 AM, August 27, 2011

Weather: Dry with clear skies

Equipments: Brunton Compass & Measuring Tape

Survey Area: 250 meters (1000 m. from starting point)

Goal: Look for geologic structures

 4. 4. Location *Road Map via Google maps
 5. 5. Location *Satellite view via Google Earth
 6. 6. Location *Area of Group 5 with bearing of N41°W
 7. 7. Findings/Observations *This photo shows the depression of land with respect to the road.
 8. 8. Findings/Observations *Left side of the photo is the elevated area while the right side is the depressed area. Seen in this picture is the white gate of the mansion (right)
 9. 9. Feedbacks In sequence: “ Unsa na inyo ginabuhat?” “ College mo? Unsang kurso?” “ Asa gikan na school?” “ Surveying namo sa subject na Structural Geology” “ Mining Engineering among course, sa USEP” “ Aw, abi nakog naa’y mupalit sa yuta.”
 10. 10. Conclusion:

Elevated and depressed areas were present on surveyed area.

Residents were living on both areas mentioned.

Natural hazards such as flood would most likely occur especially on depressed areas with little or no outcrops (especially the vacant lot) during heavy rain falls. Planting trees would help reduce the risk of flooding on depressed areas.

 11. 11. Conclusion:

Since the surveyed area was uphill, were residents were present, risk of landslide could occur and residents affected would be the ones located downhill.

 12. 12. Recommendations:

Because of the nature of the area, with slides and difference in elevations , it is not advisable for people to build residential houses in the area especially on depressed areas. Planting of trees on vacant areas must be done to reduce risk of flooding and landslides. Engineering interventions shall be made especially if housing subdivisions is to be made on the area so as not to endanger residents living downhill.
