One scripture tells us that the battle is the Lord's and many rest on that while not considering the others that call us to fight.

Whose Battle Is It: Yours or the Lord's?

  2. 2. Many lament: "I thought God was supposed to protect me?"
  3. 3. Many leaders say that the battle is the Lord's and that our job is to rest and trust
  4. 4. We must consider Old Testament scriptures this side of the Cross
  5. 5. The Holy Spirit dwells in us and not merely rests upon believers
  6. 6. The church has been given power and authority over the demonic realm
  7. 7. Consider 2 Chronicles 20:1-29
  8. 8. An alliance of enemies has invaded Judah
  9. 9. The king, Jehosophat, prays to the Lord
  10. 10. The Lord responds through His prophet Jahaziel
  11. 11. ... Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's
  12. 12. The people of Judah had a job to do also
  13. 13. They went out, met their enemy and watched
  14. 14. Jesus, in Luke 22:35-38, encouraged his disciples to have a sword to do battle
  15. 15. If necessary, they were sell their cloak and buy one
  16. 16. We have much more weaponry at our disposal today
  17. 17. 1. Perspective is everything. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood
  18. 18. 2. We have the armor of God to resist the devil's schemes
  19. 19. 3. We have authority to drive out, bind and resist demons
  20. 20. Consider the number of verses in the NT compared to one scripture about the battle being the Lord's
  21. 21. God is for us, works behind the scenes and does battle on our behalf
  22. 22. We have a role to play also
  23. 23. Too many believers do not understand or believe the reality of spiritual warfare
  24. 24. They sit back and do nothing and wait on the Lord only
  25. 25. They get angry at Him when He seems to have abandoned them to calamity
  26. 26. We are called to battle, rest in Him and have peace during the storms and trials
