  4. 4. Between 2011 and 2014, approximately one in nine Americans of all ages reported taking at least one antidepressant medication in the past month
  5. 5. Anxiety Disorders affect 18.1 percent of adults in the United States
  6. 6. More than half of college students sought help for their anxiety issues
  7. 7. We have good success working with clients on medications
  8. 8. We are NCCA licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselors and not physicians. We firmly:
  9. 9. 1. Never tell clients to stop their meds
  10. 10. 2. Do not bring guilt or shame on them for taking them
  11. 11. 3. We encourage them by saying we will not allow the meds to hinder the process
  12. 12. 4. Tell them they can work with their physicians after deliverance, if they choose, to develop a plan to be weaned off the drugs
  13. 13. There is one exception to point 3 above.
  14. 14. Our five step process requires the client to do homework
  15. 15. If they are heavily medicated and cannot focus, that can be a problem
  16. 16. Other family members, or our staff, can sometimes help them with that process
  17. 17. Prior to deliverance, we apply Matthew 16:19
  18. 18. We look into the counselees eyes and bind up the effects of the medications
  19. 19. We loose Holy Spirit on them and speak forth vitality, focus and concentration
  20. 20. We estimate that 10% of our clients are on medications
  21. 21. We ask them to stir up their faith, do the homework and do the best we can to not let the medications affect a good outcome
