This presentation was part of a larger IGNITE Session with multiple presenters. Each presenter was given a set time period and set number of slides. Slides advanced automatically while presenters speak.

  7. 7. As with any other genre they avoid reading, when my students claim they dislike reading nonfiction, I assume they lack positive, meaningful reading experiences with it. --Reading in the Wild
  8. 8. Add more nonfiction to daily book talks.
  9. 9. Read aloud nonfiction texts.
  10. 10. Use nonfiction as mentor texts.
  11. 11. Pair fiction with nonfiction on related topics.
  12. 12. Provide students frequent opportunities to preview, read, and share nonfiction.
