Editor's Notes
The CAD/CAM system services are used by the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system which in turn uses the services provided by the Supply Chain Management (SCM) system. CAD/CAM system uses the material database service provided by the Material Supplier. This service provides the latest and most accurate facts about the composites’ cost, strength, testing results, and so forth. The Material Supplier database gets much of its data from the Material Manufacturer service including the polymer construction, suitable resins for layering, temperature tolerances, and so forth. In addition, BAT will be manufacturing experimental composite nose sections and have invested in an appropriate machine tool. The machine tool’s software is exposed as a service so that the CAD/CAM system has up to date information on production times, amount of waste, and so forth. The Machine Tool Manufacturer also uses the Material Supplier service. How can we ensure that, to some level of guarantee, this business process can be rerun/extended in 30 years time?
