The Managing Director of Lokmat Media Group, Devendra Darda, said that Chartered Accountants are pillar of corporate India since it is necessary for businessmen and companies to consult them before to make an investment, to implement a project, to run a business, or to comply with tax laws. The advice provided by chartered accountants results in tax revenue and creating jobs for a country. That is why Mr. Darda said that chartered accountants are builders of nation.

4. • The director was speaking at the national
convention of chartered accountant students
as the chief guest. The convention was
organized by Western India CA Students
Association (WICASA) beneath the
sponsorship of Nagpur division of Institute of
Chartered Accountants of India. The
convention was held at J R Shaw
Auditorium.
5. Devendra Darda described the value of ethics in
the profession of chartered accountants (CAs). He
said also that chartered accountants should say ‘no’
when they are asked to do illegal or unethical
things. Mr. Darda said that because chartered
accountants do not say ‘no’ to illegal activities,
largest fraud of corporate took place in India at
Satyam Computers with numerous shareholders
losing their money.

7. • He encouraged students to be tenacious
while pursuing chartered accountant
course. Even though, only 12 percent of
students succeed in this course, Mr. Darda
said that this figure should not discourage
them. Devendra Darda added also that
holding a diploma is not the only condition
for getting hired. However, experience and
knowledge can also help students to get a
job.
8. • This means that students who will not succeed
the CA examination have many opportunities to
get a job. Mr. Darda complimented also the
students for choosing this course despite the low
rate of success. He asked also the students to
enlarge their horizons in developing soft talents
such as speaking English fluently since it is the
main language of worldwide business. He
encouraged the students to dress as the
profession requires.
10. • Devendra Darda added that chartered
accountant course is the best one in the
world since it is a multi-disciplinary course
• providing academic knowledge and
practical training. The course lasts three
years. Nilesh Vikamsey, the vice-president
of Board of Studies of ICAI, spoke also on
the occasion. He asked students to
suppress doubts of failing at the
examination of CA and rather nurture
determination to succeed. He encouraged
them to give up the addiction of electronic
gadgets while studying.
11. • Devendra Darda explained the way determination
pays. He said that when he was working for a small IT
company as a Product Development Manager, he
received an assignment to connect a product of the
• company to Dell Corporation. For three months, he
tried to meet the CEO of Dell but failed. Even of his
boss pressed him to give up; he decided to make
another attempt. He wrote an e-mail and sent it
directly to the chief of Dell Corp. Since he did not have
his address, he composed different permutations and
combination of his possible email address and sent
the mail. In less than one week, he received a call
from the chief and they concluded a deal of $20
million.
