Waterfront Activation Projects 共建活力海濱

  1. 1. Vibrant Harbours: For who? 誰的活力海港? Waterfront Activation Projects 共建活力海濱
  2. 2. 2013 Year of Marine Tourism
  3. 3. Enjoyment of seas, islands and coastlines 香港水體享用性 An archipelago of over 280 islands, and 800 kilometers of mostly natural coastline, Hong Kong has the opportunity to be the boating capital in Asia. The recognition for Hong Kong’s coastline have increased with the Geo Parks initiative and discussions over Tai Long Sai Wan, increasing the hiring of leisure boats, and tours; 香港800公里中大部份的海岸線都是天然形成, 加上 座擁超過280個島嶼, 絕對具備成為亞洲船艇之都的 條件。隨著人們對地質公園的倡議及大浪西灣所帶 來的討論, 不但提高了大眾對香港海岸線的認識, 同 時促使旅遊及休閒遊艇租借量不斷上升 ;
  4. 4. Enjoyment of seas, islands and coastlines 香港水體享用性 • It is no surprise, people in Hong Kong no longer believe the enjoyment of leisure marine activities is their right. • 90% of the population, who can’t afford membership fees of a marina, have no place to store their boat safely, and no place to get on and off a boat. • Small boat owners overseas have a trailer to put the boat on and a yard to keep it in. In Hong Kong you can’t take a canoe in the MTR, mini bus, elevator, or flat. • In Hong Kong we need public marine centres and piers on the waterfront so that the community can enjoy Hong Kong’s magnificent waters at a low cost.

  7. 7. Latent Demand for over 13,000 small boats • Comparison of the profile of vessels owned in Hong Kong and other countries where low costs public berths are available indicate that there is another latent demand for 13,000 low cost berths to cater for affordable small vessels (16-25ft). 以香港船隻的產業與其他擁有低成本公共泊位的國家相比,指出香港有 13,000個低成本泊位的潛在需求,供16 至25 英尺小型船隻使用。
  8. 8. 3,230 Moorings for Private Vessels • According to the Audit Commission Report no 59, Chapter 9, Part 4, point 4.4 – we have 2,048 private mooring spaces, of which over 70% are for pleasure vessels as at March 2012 http://www.aud.gov.hk/eng/pubpr_arpt/rpt_59.htm • According to the DevB paper and powerpoint on 19 March 2013 – There are a total of 1,875 private moorings, of which 1,593 for pleasure vessels (950 outside and 643 inside marinas) actually laid/let-out. • We have 2,280 berths in marinas and another 950 private moorings outside marinas, or 3,230 moorings for Pleasure Vessels. http://www.hfc.org.hk/en/task_forces/water_land_interface/meeting_20130319. html • Industry estimate of dry berths (racks and hard standing) for smaller vessels is around 800 at Aberdeen Marina Club, Clear Water Bay Golf and Country Club, Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, and a few private operators in Sai Kung and south of Ap Lei Chau Praya Road.
