  1. 1. What is IELTS IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. IELTS is the English language proficiency test of people who want to study in foreign universities or work Abroad.

  4. 4. IELTS Modules There are two modules in IELTS IELTS Academic Module IELTS General Module People can choose any one of the module based on their requirement. These two modules have different test format.
  5. 5. IELTS Test Format Total time is 2 hours and 45 minutes Reading, Writing and Listening tests conduct on the same day and speaking test can be conducted one week before or after these tests.
  6. 6. Difference between Academic and General Modules Academic Module for the people who want to get admission in to foreign universities and academic institutions they require IELTS test. General Module for the people who want to settle down in English speaking countries and the people who want to apply for work visa they need IELTS test.
  7. 7. IELTS Listening Test Listening test is same for both modules and it is about 30 minutes and will have 40 questions. It involves candidate has to listen recorded text which include conversation and monologues. It consists of four sections. Section 1: Conversation between two persons about non academic topic. Section 2: A single person’s talk about non academic topic. Section 3: Conversation among the people on academic issue. Section 4: Consists of a lecture by a professor. The candidate has to listen all topics and he/she need to answer the questions while listening, after finishing the test the candidate will have 10 minutes extra time to transfer their answers in to answer sheet.
  8. 8. IELTS Reading Test Types of articles are used in the Academic and General reading test are different but types of questions for answering them are same. IELTS reading test consists of 3 sections and 40 questions about 60 minutes. IELTS reading test consists of three reading passages with tasks which are taken from books, magazines, newspapers and advertisements. In Academic Module passages include non verbal material like diagrams, graphs or illustrations. General Module contains one long general topic and two work related passages.
  9. 9. IELTS Writing Test The writing test contains two tasks for Academic and General Modules. It consists of 40 questions about 60 minutes. Academic Module has two sections. Task 1: The candidate needs to explain about a table or graph or diagram about 150 words. Task2: The candidate requires to write essay about 250 words. General Module also has two sections. Task 1: Letter writing about 150 words Task 2: Essay writing about 250 words.

IELTS Speaking Test Speaking test contains three sections about 15 minutes Section 1: General questions about the candidate. Section 2: The candidate asks to give a speech on a topic for 2 minutes and 1 minute for preparation. Section3: Discussion part, questions need long answers unlike section 1.
