  2. 2. Basics: Listen First, Engage Second<br />You created an account. Now what?<br />Perform searches on keywords of interest to you; start following accounts with something noteworthy.<br />Emulate those in your industry; study what they tweet and how they do it.<br />Login and stay logged in to Twitter on your smartphone.<br />

Synch, Automate and Propagate<br />Most people don’t tweet from<br />Use the tweet button on webpages containing articles, blogposts, or graphics you find interesting.<br />Download AddThis or ShareThis to your web browser to make any webpage you visit more ‘social.’<br />Connect your LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube pages to Twitter, for automatic tweeting.<br />

Advanced Tweeting<br />Can’t get enough?<br />Use an engagement platform like TweetDeck, Seesmic or HootSuite to keep drafts of, replicate, and schedule future tweets.<br />Create and manage multiple lists of followers. Use to organize and better understand who is following you and who you are following.<br />Track who clicks on the links included in your tweets. Sign up for and create customized, shortened URLs for better tracking.<br />

Be creative without sacrificing meaning.<br />Twitter’s keyword system, usually with # in front of a word you believe users will search.
