  1. 1. Music Video Script Read All About It Music Video Script Final Draft Hemit Dhanji Declan Tyldesley
  2. 2. Music Video Script Video Title: VIDEO AUDIO LYRICS / NARRATION / MUSIC / FX 1. 0:00 – 0:12 – Start with an ES of three building in London, but the camera does not stay stationary because it also uses a PS as it pans around the buildings to gather more detail. Then the camera will cut to the female singer as she sings the lyrics on the right, when filming the female singer we will use a LS but moments after it will then cut to a MS. FEMALE SINGER – “I wanna sing, I wanna shout, I wanna scream till the words dry out, so put it in all of the papers” The music tempo at this point is very slow and calming because it is quite an emotional start to the song. The FX’s used in this scene will be some color correction and we will use low saturated colors to make the scene darker. 2. 0:13 – 0: 27 – The scene will then cut to the male singer while using a MS at the side of him as well as TS as the camera follows him down the road. Camera cuts back to female singer as she sings the rest of her first script, in this scene we will also use a MS. When the rap is about to start the camera cuts back to the male singer and he is positioned at the bottom of a road. The rap scene will start off with a CUS shot, but it will then cut to a different shot which is a MS. FEMALE SINGER – “I’m not afraid, they can read all about it, read all about it, ohhhh” MALE SINGER – “Nothing to hide, stifle or smother suffered and cried strife made me tougher” The music tempo has turned very upbeat since the last scene, as the rap to the song has started; this will also vary how fast the camera moves. The FX’s used in this scene will be color correction and we will use high saturated colors to make the dusk in the background look a lot better.
  3. 3. Music Video Script VIDEO AUDIO LYRICS / NARRATION / MUSIC / FX 3. 0:28 – 0:51 – This scene will start with the male singer still performing his rap while using a number of different camera shots like; MS’s, LS’s, WAS and LAS. These four different types of camera shots will allow the camera to get a good amount of detail in the background which shows dusk. Therefore part way through his rap it will cut to the younger version of the male singer as he is stood in front of a church because his Dads funeral has just taken place. He is the only one there because he stayed longer, it is just about to turn night shots used in this scene will be an ES and PS. Cuts back to male singer so he can finish the rest of his rap. MALE SINGER – “Never mumbled or shy, To trouble I rise above all expectations forget rep. Ain’t never begged yet when I wanted to get pence, hustle, To be, I’m exactly what my neck says. That sket said I tried to cash in on my Dads death, I wanted to vent ‘stead I said nothing at all. After all you were never kin to me; family is something you’ve never been to me. In fact making it harder for me to see my father was the only thing that you ever did for me” Music tempo is very upbeat for it is still in the rap section of the song. The FX’s used in this scene will also be color correction as we use low saturated colors to darken the scene.
  4. 4. Music Video Script VIDEO AUDIO LYRICS / NARRATION / MUSIC / FX 4. 0:52 – 1:18 - Start scene with various use of camera shots such as; CUS and MS specifically for the female singer. This scene is based on the chorus of the song, so I will use very fast camera movements I might do this by performing a PS but it will cut throughout a number of different shots each time. Therefore the camera is not always on the main female singer for it switches between the two main performers. When the male singer has his speaking part I will use a CUS to gather all of the detail on how he is reacting to a specific event. The female performers set is set in the woods as she is stood on top of a hill and looking down at the camera at some point so this will establish a LAS, the female singer will also stay stationary and just sing at the camera but she will have to exaggerate certain moments in the song to make the scene look better. When the male singer has his singing part we will use a CUS as he says “Dear Dad”. FEMALE SINGER - “I wanna sing, I wanna shout, I wanna scream till the words dry out, so put it in all of the papers, I’m not afraid, they can read all about it, read all about it, ohhhh” MALE SINGER – “Dear Dad” The FX’s used in this scene will also be a high color contrast because it makes it look better when the singers are performing their act. The music tempo is very upbeat so it will match most of my camera movements.
  5. 5. Music Video Script VIDEO AUDIO LYRICS / NARRATION / MUSIC / FX 5. 1:19 – 1:56 – This scene will also start with a MS as he sings the first part of his rap but it will also cut to CS and then it will slowly pan around the male singers head partially so the camera is not stationary. This scene is mainly based on performance so the camera will be on the male singer most of the time but part way through the rap it will cut to the younger version of the male singer walking up the road in this shot we will also use a MS and TS as he walks up the road towards his house, it is also late at night. But at the end it will also cut back to the male singer so he can perform the last section of his rap in the song. The camera movements in the rap will also move very vastly due to the high tempo in the song, by doing this the camera movements will match the song tempo to make the music video look a bit better. Also the male singer in these scene’s will act very restrained because he wants to hit someone, therefore the male singer will go at the camera as if he is going to hit someone. MALE SINGER – “As a kid I looked up to you, Only thing was I never saw enough of you, The last thing I said to you was I hated you, I loved you and now it’s too late to say to you. Just didn’t know what to do, or how to deal with it, even now deep down I’m still lived. To think I used to blame me. I wondered what I did to you to make you hate me. I wasn’t even 5! Life’s a journey and mine wasn’t an easy ride. You never even got to see me rhyme, I just wish you would have reached, I wish you would have been round when I’ve been down. I wish that you could see me now; wherever you are I really hope you find peace. But know that if I ever have kids, unlike you I’ll never let them be without me!” The music tempo is very upbeat at this part of the song because the male singer is expressing a lot of anger towards the camera. The FX’s used in this scene will also be color correction and we will use low saturated colors to darken the set to make it more intense.
  6. 6. Music Video Script VIDEO AUDIO LYRICS / NARRATION / MUSIC / FX 6. 1:57 – 2:16 – This scene will start off as a long shot and the female singer will be positioned at the bottom of the hill and facing the camera, in the background is a long road with a few house’s on the left and right. The camera shots I will use in this scene are MS’s, LS’s, and PS’s. These shots will cut through each other so I can speed up the camera movements massively by doing this. This will match the song tempo. However the scene will not only show the female performer singing her part of the song it will also show the young boy walking up the stairs and towards his bedroom. The shots I will use for this are TS’s, MS’s, and CUS. FEMALE SINGER – “I wanna sing, I wanna shout, I wanna scream till the words dry out, so put it in all of the papers I’m not afraid they can read all about it, read all about it, ohhhh” The music tempo at this point is u8pbeat as well as most of the song; however I will use slow camera movements when the young boy is walking towards his bedroom. The FX’s that the audience may see in this scene is color correction and I will use low saturated colors to darken the set. 7. 2:17 – 2:43 – Some of the lyrics on the right our mixed with the female singer part so the camera will switch between both performers. The shots I will use to film the male singer are CUS, MS’s, LS’s, and PS’s. I have listed four different types because the song tempo is very upbeat and when I come to edit it I can switch within four different types of shots. Also by doing this it will gather a lot of detail behind the performer and what clothing he is wearing. However the camera will show the young boy starring at a picture of his Dad I will use a CUS for both the young boy and a picture of his Dad. MALE SINGER – “I write songs I can’t listen to, Everything I have I give to you and every one of these lines I sing to you. My jobs more like public service my life just became yours to read in interpret. If you’ve heard it, it’d come across a lot different at times, I throw fits when I read how they word things. You’ve seen me smile, now your gonna have to see me hurtin’’cause pretending everything when it Ain’t, really isn’t working”
  7. 7. Music Video Script VIDEO AUDIO LYRICS / NARRATION / MUSIC / FX 8. 2:44 – 3:20 – This scene will start with the female singer still performing her part of the song but it will still switch between the picture of the young boy and the picture of his Dad. The shots I will use in this scene are CUS’s, MS’s, PS’s and LS’s. In this scene it will show the female and male singer’s performing their part of the song, but it will also show the young boy falling to sleep on his bed after a long day I will use an ECUS on the young boys’ eyes this scene will take place just at the end of the male singers’ part. FEMALE SINGER – “I wanna sing, I wanna shout, I wanna sing till the words dry out, so put it in all of the papers, I’m not afraid, they can read all about it, read all about it, ohhh” MALE SINGER – “I Ain’t censoring myself for nobody I’m the only thing I can be, all that is good, all that is bad, all that is me” The music tempo at this point is very aggressive and upbeat, so I will move the camera very vastly in order for the camera movement to match the tempo. The FX’s that the viewers may see in this scene is again color correction and I will use both low and high saturated colors to make each set look better. 9. 3:21 – 3:53 – This scene will start off with a ECUS of the boys eyes, the boy opens his eyes and he is positioned in a completely different set which is where the male singer performs most of his part in the song. I will use a WRS and LS when filming the boy as he wonders why he has been placed here. Until the camera moves to an OSS positioned next to the boy and then he sees the older version of his self-walking towards him. Eventually they are both positioned on opposite sides of the road as they stare at each other. The shots I will use in this scene are CUS’s, Two Shot, WRS and PS. By using these shots it will show a lot of detail on what is taking place so the viewers have a clear idea on what is happening. FEMALE SINGER – “I wanna sing, I wanna shout, I wanna sing till the words dry out, so put it in all of the papers, I’m not afraid, they can read all about it, read all about it, ohhhh” The music tempo at this point is very calm and emotional, so the camera will move very slowly in order for the camera movements to match the song tempo. The FX’s that the viewers may see in this scene is color correction and they will see high saturation colors to brighten the dusk setting.
