Final presentationwikiblogs

 1. 1. Deborah Martin
Wikis, Blogs and Web Publishing
2. 2. Wiki

I love working with the wiki. It is a tool I have been using for several years. But I did learn a few new things. I worked on the wiki during this course for several hours. Up loading new information, editing the grammar, and changing the theme, color and text. I think it made the wiki look more professional.
3. 3. What is in the WIKI?
This wiki is the final exam for my
Foreign Food Course.
There are several steps to this project.

First students interview someone from a foreign country and answer the questions found on the wiki
 4. 4. Second the information is added and dated
 5. 5. Third the student make a podcast about the country
 6. 6. Four the podcast is add by the teacher to the wiki
 7. 7. Fifth the student demonstrate a recipe from their interview, not the internet, for the class
 8. 8. Sixth pictures of student recipes are added to wiki

RSS – My Personal Page
I used the igoole as a personal RSS
It is now my homepage
My theme is Tropical fish – this gave me the most trouble. The fish are not always found in the page. I found out from Rich some theme pages change during the day. This happen to be one. I found myself for the first few days changing the sand scene back to the fish. I have add weather (found in 3 locations, home, school and shore home ) to my igoogle. I have added a joke for the day – I like this part the best. All the jokes are clean and funny. I have shared them with friends. A great way to start a day. Plus, I have added pages of topics I enjoy –such as yoga, local news, CNN, travel, stocks, utube of the day and several others
9. 9. Favorite
10. 10. MY RSS
I like the RSS the best. It is a tool I will be using everyday from now on. Plus it will be easy to change and add other RSS as I start school in the fall. This is a new tool I will be sharing with my students. Our school has one to one with laptops.
11. 11. Blog
Debbie’s Summer – is the title of my blog. During the summer I live at Brigantine Beach.
My blog is a journal of the activities of my days. I have asked several close friends to join to follow my days and my time away from school. Not many have joined yet but I think about 6 friend will join as soon as they check their e-mail. I am looking forward to their comments.
During the school year I am not sure I will use this tool but I may find away. I do like reading other professional blog. There were several in the readings I have bookmark. Maybe later add to my RSS.
12. 12. Check out my Blog

13. 13. Web Publishing
Glogster – this is a fun tool to use for a lot of subjects. I made mine about Family Consumer Science. I added title, bubbles, color, font, text, images and video. The tool was lots of fun and will be easy for student to use. I did not find all utubes I wanted to use could be added. This caused a slight problem when making the glogster. I also found the web links I wanted to use also could not be uploaded. But over all this is a great and fun tool for student to present projects.
14. 14.
Check out the cute picture of the kid on skates.
Learn the topics of Family Consumer Science Education and check out the videos Hope you enjoy and learn something about what I teach.
15. 15. Moodle – online course
I have created 5 moodles for my course, Basic Food, Foreign Foods, Advance Foods/Nutrition, Child Development, and Consumer Education. I will be creating a new one in the fall for Textiles and Fashion. I find the moodle a perfect tool to keep students on task. I have learned a lot of new information using this moodle. I have always been on the teacher side, it was different being on the student side. It made me do a lot a trial and error as a learner. I think this course has made me try things I might not have if I were in a traditional class with a teacher showing me each step. I enjoyed this type of learning. Spoon fed leaning is boring.( Plain English-Ha Ha) I found the chat room very helpful, this was the first time I ever used this tool. Plus even the last step I will learn how to upload this PP. Looking back I see how much I learned –thanks.
