Technology Education
Institution: Polytechnic University of the Philippines
Year: 2017

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
viii
The researchers utilized the descriptive method using the survey questionnaire.
These were distributed to 171 fourth year students of Bachelor in Business Teacher
Education.
Majority of the respondents were female. The type of school and place of
work in which the respondents preferred to teach and work was in public schools.
The respondents preferred to teach and work in urban places. The respondents
considered taking the licensure examination for teachers and civil service
examination for office workers, as well as pursuing Master’s degrees. The
respondents also considered teaching or working abroad, and those who opted
teaching preferred teaching in high school level, primarily Information
Communications Technology subjects.
The respondents reported to have identified parent’s educational attainment,
achievement needs, profession reputation, willingness to learn, and computer
literacy as the highest determinant factors in choosing a career path. Hence, this
study found significant relationships between the factors in pursuing teaching and in
pursuing office work.
