  3. 3. Early Life Charles Dickens was born on the 7th in 1812 in Landport Portsmouth, England. Dickens left school to work at a factory after his father was thrown in Debtor’s Prison.   8. 8. Oliver Twist Oliver Twist is one of Dickens’ more tragic and evil stories. Based around a young orphan, Oliver, who lives a life of toil in a Workhouse. Oliver escapes to London, where he meets, Artful Dodger a young member of a juvenile gang of pickpockets. Oliver is then taken to Fagin the trainer of the boys, where he joins not knowing what the gang do. The story has been made into many movies and plays over the past.Thursday, 11 October 2012
