4G LTE destinations for the connected traveler China

Published on

Great Wall, great mobile broadband experience

China is one of the fastest-growing mobile markets in the world and also one of the fastest-growing tourism destinations. Operator China Mobile has observed this and identified the need and demand for 4G LTE. Its market is home to many high-traffic hotspots in densely-populated areas and users are demanding ever more capacity – so China Mobile invested $7 billion in its network in 2014. The operator is deploying a TD-LTE HetNet and adding metro cells to address the hotspot issue. The end result is that China Mobile now boasts the world’s biggest end-to-end TD-LTE HetNet able to deliver massive capacity across the country.

It has also established an LTE TDD ecosystem and is positioned to develop network functions virtualization and innovative cloud-based services in the future. If you are heading to see the Great Wall you can expect great mobile capacity and coverage while you’re there too.
