  1. 1. IEEE 802.11s Mesh Networking NS-3 Model SANTHIRAM ENGINEERING COLLEGE Approved By A.I.C.T.E., NewDelhi, Affiliated to J.N.T.U, Anantapur AN ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFIED COLLEGE 2(f) and 12(B) recognition by UG Act, 1956 NH-18, Nandyal, Kurnool, A.P.-518502
  2. 2. OBJECTIVE The main objective is Implementing the IEEE 802.11s mesh networking model in the open-source Network Simulator 3 environment.
  3. 3.  A mesh network is a network topology in which each node relays data for the network. All mesh nodes cooperate in the distribution of data in the network. Mesh networks can relay messages using either a flooding technique or a routing technique. MESH NETWORK
  4. 4. MESH NETWORK
  5. 5.  Wireless mesh networking is a relatively new technology originating out of ad-hoc networking research of the last decade.  Wireless mesh network do not require centralized access points to mediate the wireless connection.  Wireless mesh networks extend the connectivity area of mobile devices beyond the limited range of a single access point WIRELESS MESH NETWORK
  6. 6.  NS-2 is implemented based on only HWMP protocol.  MP,MAP,STA are used to design and implement HWMP in NS-2. EXISTING SYSTEM
  7. 7.  Installation Of Ubuntu or Debian  Primary site www.nsnam.org  Latest release 3.18v  Source download link:-  https://www.nsnam.org/release/ns-allinone- 3.18.tar.bz2  Documentation download link:-  http://www.nsnam.org/ns-3-18/documentation LINUX ENVIRONMENT
  8. 8. NS-2 NS-3  NS-2 is implemented by using C++ and Otcl.  It does support mesh network.  Slow with NS-2.  Complex with NS-2.  NS-3 is implemented by using C++ only because Otcl has overhead with large simulations.  It supports mesh network.  Efficient with NS-3.  Simple with NS-3. WHY NS-3 ?
  9. 9.  NS-3 is a network simulator  Developed for network research and education  Developed after ns-2  ns-3 is written in C++  Bindings in Python  ns-3 uses the waf build system  simulation programs are C++ executables or python scripts BASICS OF NS-3
  10. 10.  It it a discrete event simulator  Modular design / Open source  Actively developed (Contrast NS-2)  Developed in C++. Python binding available.  Live visualizer  Logging facility for debugging  Tracing facility for getting output  Can be connected to a real network  Direct Code Execution (DCE) FEATURES OF NS-3
  11. 11.  802.11s uses two protocols: Peering Management Protocol HWMP Protocol PROTOCOL
  12. 12. Throughput End to end delay Packet delivery ratio DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
