1. check out free magic trick books from your local library- ( 793.8 section of the library )
2. Learn easy effects and basics for a foundation of your magic knowledge and skills.

3. Practice in front of a mirror before showing the audience magic trick. Study your Magic for
many different Angles!
*** REMEMBER THAT THE MIRROR DOUBLES THE DISTANCE WHEN VIEWING FOR
PRACTICING YOUR MAGIC!
4. Practice in front of a video camera and then watch tape for mistakes, etc.
5. Get a magic friend so you can practice together. Not just someone like a family member
because they will tell you it is good when it might not be yet.
6. Join a magic club or start your own. SAM or IBM - Society of American Magicians or
International Brotherhood of Magicians

7. Ask expert magicians to recommend the best books and dvds, etc.

8. Focus on mastering 3-6 magic tricks that you will use on a regular basis. Not only practice but

rehearse you magic routines byb video taping and reviewing them!
9. Find your niche in magic, stage magic or close-up magic, etc. by studying the champions of

11. Be yourself. Do not try to be someone you are not.
Example: Lance Burton is not Mac King and vice-versa. Take a personality test online.

12. Find a mentor in magic. Join Master Magic Mentors facebook group!
13. Decide what is your favorite kind of magic by observing the very best magicians
and/or magic tricks that you can find and decide what kind of magic you want to develop into
your own unique style.
14. Subscribe to a magic magazine and stay updated on the latest in magic tricks.

15. Don’t copy magic tricks word for word, create your own original scripts.

19. Use a variety and balance of magic tricks in your magic show.

Master Magicians performances to see how they cover their mistakes, etc.
21. Learn how to use proper misdirection in your magic tricks.

22. Remember to look at the audience in their eyes and not stare at your hands and/or props so
much! & use of the eyes and proper timing and use of pauses for dramatic effects!
23. Carry coins in your palm positions through out the day without letting others notice. This
way you have more time practicing.

24. Don’t worry about trying to learn every magic trick at once, master a few first. Learn the
basic principles of magic.
25. Study acting and good actors to watch how they bring their character to life.
Read acting books and learn the acting techniques to apply to your Magic! Learn the acting-

26. Develop your own magic tricks and don’t copy other magician’s magic tricks but
