  • ‘Raise the sail with your stronger hand,’ Japanese proverb Meaning - You must go after the opportunities that arise in life that you are best equipped to do.
  • The Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) exam was first administered in Japan has been the benchmark that the Japanese adult language learner is measured with by businesses and organizationsIn Central Ohio, there are 158 local businesses owned by parent companies in Japan as well as two Japanese subsidiaries of local Fortune 1,000 companies. According to the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau, Asians are Dublin's largest minority group at 15% of the total population of Dublin. Furthermore, 9% of Dublin's businesses are Asian-owned. Japanese companies in Central Ohio are interested in training program in which new hires from Japan would study English at the language school for half the day and then spend the other half of the day training at the company's facility.Softbank, a Japanese telecommunications and Internet corporation, intends on giving cash rewards to staff who get top marks in English proficiency tests such as TOEIC. Rakuten, a Japanese electronic commerce and Internet company, made English its internal language for all internal communications.
  • Intensive English Programs such as OSU’s American Language ProgramCompany schools such as Honda America ManufacturingChurches (Dublin Baptist Church) and community centers (Asian American Community Services)Private tutoring
  • Flexibility of offering classes at the job site Financial considerations-For example, some business professionals are given a monthly budget of $180 per month while employees are given a monthly budget to pay for one four-week session at an area of approximately $2000. Time and travel constraints- What most Americans consider the norm in commuting by car, our primary and secondary target markets find challenging especially during the winter season when there is bad weather. Furthermore, IEPs only offer classes between the hours of 8am to 4pm which is prime time for our primary and secondary markets work schedules. To that end, the TOEIC Test Prep training program will go to its students by holding classes and tutoring sessions at multinational corporationsin the area. In Japan, company classes are held between 5-9 pm in a room reserved for lessons and meetings in the company offices. Tailor-made content instruction such as giving presentations, participating in meetings, negotiating agreements, explaining and defending positions, using business vocabulary and idiomatic expressions in work-related conversations, and business writing including reporting and summarizingThe intent is to gain the employer's support and see these classes as part of the student's work schedule by offering the employer's a percentage of the student's tuition for use of their spaces to conduct classes.
  • Personal Selling- By using relationship service marketing, the TOEIC Test Prep training program starts with customer attraction followed by building a long-term relationship with the customers by providing English language training which ensures need satisfaction for the collective whole. Direct Marketing and Advertising- For example, TOEIC Test Prep training program advertise in media outlets used by Chambers of Commerce in Central Ohio, Trade Associations in Central Ohio such as Japan-America Society of Central Ohio (JASCO) and Central Ohio Japan Association of Commerce (COJAC), and trade magazines and journals. Sales Promotion- The promotion for the instructional services provided will comprise of a sales team that is not only knowledgeable of the needs of language learners but also knowledgeable of cultural sensitivity in terms of providing customer service. Sales promotions will consist of prepayment discounts, multiple session discounts, returning student discounts, referral discounts, and family discounts.
