Responsibilities
To create animations of the highest quality.
The ability to meet project deadlines / milestones, as set by the Lead Animator and

Assist in the integration of animation with designers and engineers to create
compelling in-game animation.

To collaborate effectively with other animators and artists to intergrate/clean up
motion capture data.
Qualifications
Outstanding demo reel demonstrating strong animation ability and good aesthetic
eye.
3-year degree with an emphasis in character animation or equivalent work
experience.
Thorough understanding and application of classic animation principles (staging,
timing, anticipation, follow through, etc.).
Experience with motion capture.
Professional experience developing a third person action game.
Strong traditional animation/art background.
Skills
Fluency in one or more of the major animation packages – skills in Motionbuilder an
advantage.
Proven experience with cleaning up motion capture data.
Python scripting experience an advantage.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills allowing effective collaboration with a
wide variety of project staff.
Eye for detail is essential.
Strong organisational, problem solving and time management skills.
Character Animation
Responsibilities
To create character animations of the highest quality and consistent to the
character’s personality, design and movement style.
The ability to meet project deadlines / milestones, as set by the Lead Animator and
Production.
Assist in the integration of animation with designers and engineers to create
compelling in-game animation.
Consistently meet project deadlines in a timely manner without compromising artistic
integrity.
To collaborate effectively with designers and other dev to understand story and
mission requirements.
Qualifications
Outstanding demo reel demonstrating strong animation ability and good aesthetic
eye.
Minimum of 3-year degree with an emphasis in character animation or equivalent
work experience.
Thorough understanding and application of classic animation principles (staging,
timing, anticipation, follow through, etc.).
Experience with motion capture.
Professional experience developing a third person action game.
Strong technical background.
Skills
Exceptional skill in animating realistic human characters.
Expert user of MotionBuilder.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills allowing effective collaboration with a
wide variety of project staff.
Strong organisational, problem solving and time management skills.
Technical Animator
Supports the production pipeline used by animators/artists, and ensures that the animation
team has all of the relevant tools and workflows they need to operate at peak efficiency.
Follows direction from animation/art team on an optimal CG look, and ensures that all
character assets in the game are being built to withstand performance and memory
requirements. Design, create and maintain smooth running asset pipelines, while proactively
identifying potential issues before they arise. Develop and refine tools to enable Animation
and Character teams with efficient and intuitive workflows - research creative implementation
solutions and extend the toolset as required.
Represent team requirements within the studio TD group, providing input to help influence
the technological direction of the studio.
Responsibilities
Reports to the Lead Animator
Collaborate with animators to design motion controls
Work with the modelers to help create character models that meet technical and
animation needs
Capable of writing pipeline tools to streamline the character setup process
Develop new techniques and processes to solve character production challenges
Working with Python/MaxScript/MEL scripts to automate the character animation
process
Working with 3rd party software for viewing and effecting character animations in the
game engine
Assisting with dynamics and in-game physics
Designing and implementing efficient character/weapon/vehicle rigs for the project
Tasks include: Technical animation, tool development, skinning of characters and
rigging of characters
Qualifications
5+ years’ experience in Computer Graphics
3+ years’ experience on console game development
Computer Programming/Scripting experience (e.g. C++, MaxScript, Python, Ruby,
MEL, Etc…)
Strong knowledge of Motion Builder 2012, 3D Max 2012, Maya 8+
Knowledge of MaxScript/Python as well as Ruby scripting
Strong understanding of both Figure and Facial Anatomy
Experience with setting up production pipelines while being able to follow guidelines
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Skills
Additional background in Film or TV VFX is a plus
Experience in UI design for animation tool layout
Senior Character Animator
We are looking for talented and experienced Senior Character Animators capable of
demonstrating strong leadership and exceptional character animation skills to work on future
projects at Rockstar New York.
Applicants should be self-motivated, responsive to direction, and effective leaders / mentors,
be able to plan and schedule their time, work well under pressure, and have the confidence
to deliver to a deadline.
Responsibilities
Supervises a small team of animators and reports to the Art Director.
Collaborates with designers and directors to understand and incorporate character
performance and animation direction according to story and mission requirements.
Creates character animations of the highest quality and consistent to the character’s
personality, design and movement style.
Understands the asset creation pipeline and uses this understanding to implement
assets into the game.
Consistently meets project deadlines set by directors and producers in a timely
manner without compromising artistic integrity.
Manages a high volume of competing priorities on a daily basis.
Proactively works within the team to raise production values, identifies potential
production issues and collaborates to remove bottlenecks.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3-year degree with an emphasis in character animation or equivalent
work experience.
Outstanding demo reel demonstrating exceptional skill in animating realistic human
characters and a good aesthetic eye.
Thorough understanding of classic animation principles such as staging, squash and
stretch, timing, anticipation, follow through, exaggeration, arcs, etc., as well as an
intrinsic ability for storytelling.
Experience with animating complex and nuanced facial performances.
Minimum 5 years of experience, including at least three shipped titles, and at least
one AAA title.
Pro-actively communicates status of assignments and any issues to directors and
producers.
Remains open and receptive to feedback. Reviews work with directors to ensure
expectations are aligned.
Skills
Fluency in one or more of the major animation software packages.
Experience with motion capture and Motion Builder.
Strong traditional animation/art background.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills allowing seamless collaboration with
a wide variety of project staff.
Strong organizational, problem solving and time management skills.
3D character animator
Requirements
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in game development animating characters
using 3DS Max or Maya (or equivalent 3D program)
Exceptional skills in animating the human bipedal figure as well as other
organic forms
Self-driven, good communicator, and a great team-player
A passion for video games, especially Blizzard Entertainment products
Pluses
Shipped AAA PC or console titles as a senior character animator
Outstanding 2D animation skills
Experience in FX and particle animation
A passion for developing and playing online games
Understanding of the visual style of World of Warcraft and a passion to push it
to the next level
Skills in one or more of the related character creation tasks -- illustration,
modeling, texturing, or rigging

Some knowledge of Nuke and Houdini (for downstream awareness)

Responsibilities Supervises a small team of animators and reports to the Art Director. Collaborates with designers and directors to understand and incorporate character performance and animation direction according to story and mission requirements. Creates character animations of the highest quality and consistent to the character’s personality, design and movement style. Understands the asset creation pipeline and uses this understanding to implement assets into the game. Consistently meets project deadlines set by directors and producers in a timely manner without compromising artistic integrity. Manages a high volume of competing priorities on a daily basis. Proactively works within the team to raise production values, identifies potential production issues and collaborates to remove bottlenecks. Qualifications Minimum of 3-year degree with an emphasis in character animation or equivalent work experience. Outstanding demo reel demonstrating exceptional skill in animating realistic human characters and a good aesthetic eye. Thorough understanding of classic animation principles such as staging, squash and stretch, timing, anticipation, follow through, exaggeration, arcs, etc., as well as an intrinsic ability for storytelling. Experience with animating complex and nuanced facial performances. Minimum 5 years of experience, including at least three shipped titles, and at least one AAA title.
