  6. 6. 1) Roman Toilets
  7. 7. 2) Palaestra  Before bathing the Romans would exercise in open courtyards.  The Romans would work up a sweat so they could feel the benefit of a good bath.
  8. 8. 3) Caldarium  This was the hottest room in a Roman bath. It was a bit like a Sauna.  The hot water and steamy air temperatures may have risen well above 100 degrees.
  9. 9. 4) Frigidarium  This was a freezing cold bath to refresh the Romans  The Romans would feel very refreshed after plunging into the frigidarium's freezing waters.
  10. 10. Your Task  Label the Roman bath house plan and explain in detail what happened in each room/area.  Explain why the Romans used these pools/areas
