User Centered Design

  1. 1. User Centered Design This presentation is a project work done for: Napkin Academy – Show & Tell Shivanand Yerva Hyderabad, India
  2. 2. User Centered Design User-centered design (UCD) is an approach to design that grounds the process in information about the people who will use the product. UCD processes focus on users through the planning, design and development of a product. STORY LINE 2: THE ESCALATOR
  3. 3. ANALYSIS DESIGN IMPLEMENTATION DEPLOYMENT UCD involves users from the beginning of the project, including during analysis. As the design progresses, all design iterations can be quickly tested with users. A great user experience and high user satisfaction are built in from the beginning by early and ongoing attention to users. User Centered Design
  4. 4. User Centered Design ANALYSIS Meet with key stake holders Built a multi-disciplinary team Develop usability goals and objectives Conduct field studies Look at competitive products Create user profiles
  5. 5. User Centered Design DESIGN Begin to brainstorm design concepts Develop screen flow and navigation model Create low-fidelity prototypes Conduct usability testing on low-fidelity prototypes Create high-fidelity detailed design Conduct usability testing on high-fidelity prototypes Create a design specification document
  6. 6. IMPLEMENTATION User Centered Design Do ongoing heuristic evaluations Conduct usability testing Work closely with delivery team as design is implemented!
  7. 7. DEPLOYMENT User Centered Design Use Surveys to get user feedback Check objectives using usability testing Conduct field studies to get info about actual use
  8. 8. SWISH OF THE TAIL User Centered Design Providing great user experience is an on going process
