Women's Empowerment Group: Slides are from our 5th session together. The group overcame some power struggles and had synergy by this point. They were preparing for termination soon, so I wanted to keep the session fun, informative, and moving forward. We started with a recap from the previous week and the agenda. Then, we had some women's trivia, a quiz, and discussion. Then, I spoke to the group about the benefits of music therapy and dedicated my favorite empowerment song to them. I also tried to instill hope by directing the group toward futureme.org for an online activity. They sent "postcards" to their future selves; they gave themselves advice, encouragement, reminders, and directions on how to get where they wanted to go. We ended the session with a women's empowerment quote & poem.
