  4. 4. 4 Construction 2019/2020: What to Expect • In early 2019, work will shift from piling, decking and shallow excavation to deep excavation under the completed decking at the intersection. • Support works, excavation, earth hauling and concrete and material deliveries will continue on the surface. • Wet Utility work is required east of Bayview, in front of Sunnybrook Plaza • Main and Secondary Entrance sites will be the main access points for the excavation underneath Eglinton Avenue. • Large tower cranes will be installed in both entrances to facilitated deep excavation works. • There are two intersection construction stages planned to facilitated deep excavation: Stage Approx. duration Traffic Pedestrians TTC Stops 1 4-5 months - No turn restrictions at intersection - Dedicated left turn lanes in all directions - Two through lanes each for WB & SB - One through lane each for EB & NB - N/S crossing on west side of Bayview closed - Pedestrian routes closed on northwest corner TBD 2 > 1 year - No turn restrictions at intersection - Dedicated left turn lanes in all directions - Dedicated right turn lane for WB traffic - Two through lanes each for WB, EB & SB - One through lane each for NB - All pedestrian crossings - Pedestrian routes closed on northwest corner TBD

  6. 6. 6 Laird Station: What to Expect 24 Hour Mining Long Term Construction Activity Area Duration 24 hour mining work Main & Secondary Entrances Summer 2017 – to late 2019 Mining excavation • Advancing west from Main entrance and east from secondary entrance under Eglinton Ave. Underway Permanent works • Cavern between main and secondary entrance • Location of permanent works will change as mining excavation is completed in various sections of the cavern • Includes waterproofing and concrete works Underway
  7. 7. 7 Laird Station Underground Works Cross Cut Access Adit Main Entrance Cavern • The mining process includes three principal underground activities that occur in a continuous sequence. This creates the large underground cavern that will house the station platform and concourse. • Horizontal ‘pipe roof’ supports the ground above • Excavation of the materials below the ‘roof’ • Support of underground surfaces by spraying the walls and ceiling with concrete • Final lining works will begin on sections of the caverns where mining excavation is complete • Waterproofing and final lining will occur inside of the complete caverns • During the concrete works, there will be continuous delivery of concrete to the surface sites Secondary Entrance 500m to be mined underneath Eglinton Ave – from west of Laird Drive to Brentcliffe Road
