    11. 11. Digital Database  The digital products of China’s scientific journals are controlled by technology providers: integrate full-text data, get the main revenue  CNKI (China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database): http://www.cnki.net, established in 1999  WanFang Data: http://www.wanfangdata.com.cn, established in 2000  VIP: http://www.cqvip.com, established in 2001
    12. 12. Information Resources of CNKI and WanFang Data Indexed Items CNKI Wanfang Journal articles 39.3 M 18.3 M Doctor and MS degree thesis 1.9 M 2.0 M Conference Proceedings 1.6 M 1.9 M Others (Newspapers, Patents, Books) 59.1 M 49.9 M Total 101.9 M 72.1 M CNKI: 8786 Js; Wanfang: ~ 6000 Js
    13. 13.  Case: Search system of CNKI
    14. 14.  Related papers (based on keywords and references):  References of this article;  Papers which cited this article;  Papers with the same reference as the article;  ……
    15. 15. AMLC (CNKI): Academic Misconduct Literature Check  Developed in 2008;  Integrated several languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, Russian, etc.;  Based on CNKI and 16 overseas databases (Springer,Taylor & Francis, Wiley, OUP, etc.)  Users: ~ 4500 journals/publishers, ~ 1500 research institutions and societies;  Detected Literatures: >6 M. WanFang Data: Paper Similarity Detection Service
    16. 16. Search engine used by Libraries  NSTL ( National Science and Technology Library): 17000 Js;  CALIS (China Academic Library & Information System) : 8000 Js;  CASHL (China Academic Social Sciences and Humanities Library): 11800Js
    17. 17. The use of digital identifier in China  Every digital database developed its own object identifier. No unified standard rules. (CNKI, WanFang, VIP, Apabi, etc.);  It is important to have a unique identifier for cross- database searching;  Agency and members of DOI (CrossRef) in China:  Wanfang Data Co., Ltd (agency)  Scicence China Press; Journal Publishing Center of Science Press; Journal of Zhejiang University… (members)
    18. 18. DOI Agency in China: Wanfang Data Co., Ltd.  Began in 2007  Registered items: 1.63 M, (1349 journals enrolled, 11 of them are English edition)
    19. 19. Questions: DOI (CrossRef) in China  For Chinese-edition journals, their registered items are English information. However, the search is based on Chinese (CNKI, WanFang, VIP), so it is difficult to establish a cross-refer via DOI.  Is it useful for Chinese journals to registered DOI (CrossRef)?  Is it possible for CeossRef to establish links with Chinese articles?  Many China’s journals cooperate with overseas publishers, and register DOI as one of the publishers’ journals. If the cooperator changed, how multiple DOIs process?
    20. 20. Questions: Cross Check  Plagiarism − Translation between Chinese and English.  Redundant (or duplicate) publication − The same paper published in English & Chinese; − Journal papers revised from PhD (or MS) thesis; − Journal papers revised from online articles. AMLC: Academic Misconduct Literature Check (CNKI) PSDS: Paper Similarity Detection Service (WanFang)
