  13. 14. A bimetal strip bends at a temperature of more than 105°C and thereby cuts off the power circuit mechanically. When the temperature drops the bimetal bends back in its old position and closes the power circuit again. A temperature sensor in the control cap on the back of the radiator measures the temperature on the glass surface and shuts the radiator at a temperature of 65°C automatically off. The radiator is made of laminated safety glass (similar to a car windscreen) and therefore remains intact even when the glass was broken. The tempered glass panes withstand even hardest hits. Only a relatively small electrical contact is needed.
