  • Megan and Mi Volunteered at the Giant Pumpkin Festival Duck Chuck Fundraiser. Facilitated a bingo night at the Sunrise Senior Living Center. Participated in a service learning project by helping sort coats for Coats for Kids. Worked with the TAC to facilitate a parent appreciation dinner where teens cooked the entire meal for their parents. Attended a region wide youth conference in the bay area. Obtained skills on goal planning and learned how to set measurable objectives to complete their goals. Learned how to create a logo and developed their own TLC logo. Participated in many team building exercises and learned about all the key elements that go into creating a successful team.

Counselor in Training (CIT) <ul><li>The CIT Program is a new opportunity for teens ages 14 and 15 to learn important skills and techniques in order to become a successful Recreation Leader in the future. In this three week program offered over the summer, participants will learn: </li></ul><ul><li>Leadership Techniques </li></ul><ul><li>Team building </li></ul><ul><li>Communication skills </li></ul><ul><li>Conflict resolution </li></ul><ul><li>Hands on experience at the CSD Kid Central Site </li></ul>

    10. 10. <ul><li>In small groups learn the basics of skateboarding. </li></ul><ul><li>Classes take place every summer. </li></ul><ul><li>Excellent opportunity for teens to learn new skills in a safe and fun environment. </li></ul>Introduction to Skateboarding Classes
    11. 11. <ul><li>Skate Camp offers campers a way to </li></ul><ul><li>improve their skateboarding skills in a safe </li></ul><ul><li>and exciting camp environment. </li></ul><ul><li>Campers learn: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Skateboarding skills and techniques </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Proper skateboarding etiquette </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Opportunity to design their own skateboard deck </li></ul></ul><ul><li>The week ends with an all day trip to different local skate parks. </li></ul>Skate Camp
    12. 12. <ul><li>The Skate Park offers a variety of different Summer skate clinics. Each clinic is two hours long and is geared toward a specific theme or skill. </li></ul>Skate Clinics
    13. 13. <ul><li>The Teen Action Committee (TAC) is a group of fifteen high school students. </li></ul><ul><li>The Teen Action Committee tackles issues pertaining to their age group, as well as plans and implements projects to address important youth issues in Elk Grove. </li></ul><ul><li>Members of the Teen Action Committee meet every other week. </li></ul><ul><li>Committee members have the important duty of advising the CSD Parks and Recreation Department staff as to the concerns and interests of youth and teens in the Elk Grove community. </li></ul><ul><li>Works with staff to implement projects addressing the needs of the teen community. </li></ul>Teen Action Committee

    15. 15. <ul><li>The Middle School Teen Leadership Committee (TLC) is a group of 12 Middle School. </li></ul><ul><li>Meet every other week as a task force to discuss and address youth issues pertaining to their age group. </li></ul><ul><li>The Teen Leadership Committee offers committee members outstanding leadership training that will prepare them as they become more involved in the community. </li></ul><ul><li>A large focus of the TLC is participating in service learning projects that benefit the entire community. </li></ul>Teen Leadership Committee
