Why Prepare Now? Because it's too late once something happens

  1. 1. Why? 80% of American live in a county that has been hit by a weather related disaster since 2007. There are many more dangers, disasters and emergencies than just weather. But 60% of Americans have not practiced what to do in a disaster.
  2. 2. Why? Only 39% of Americans have an emergency plan. 55% think they can rely on local authorities to rescue them.
  3. 3. Why? 44% have no first aid kit. 48% have no emergency supplies. 53% do not have a 3 day supply of food and water.
  4. 4. Why? 52% have not designated an Emergency Rally Point. 42% do not know the phone numbers of immediate family members. 98% of people agree first aid saves lives, but 64% don’t know basic first aid. It goes on, but I’ve got good news!
  5. 5. You Can Do It! The most important survival training isn’t training at all. It’s preparation. Having the right equipment and plans in place BEFORE an emergency or disaster.
  6. 6. Why I Wrote This Book Because of my family, particularly my grandsons. They had just moved to San Diego with their parents and I started discussing earthquake preparedness with my son. I knew from my Special Operations training and experience that there is a lot more to preparedness than most people realize and the sources are confusing.
  7. 7. I’ve done considerable survival training and have read many manuals and books on the subject. Most are overwhelming or focused more on immediate survival, rather than preparation. So I wrote this book to focus on what someone can do NOW. Also, I start with basics rather than going full apocalyptic, Zombie mode. Most ‘survival’ books are overwhelming. 17. 17. I highly recommend getting at least one print copy of the survival manual. During an emergency you can’t count on an eBook. It’s pocket-sized— shown next to my trusty, old Ranger Handbook. I keep one in the glove compartment of each car, in every Grab-n-Go bag and also give them as gifts— the gift of life. Click on image for print version Print Book
