Sword of legend and myth. Was it real? Where did the story come from? Was Arthur a real leader or an amalgamation of historical figures?

The Legend of Excalibur

  2. 2. Excalibur is the mythical sword of King Arthur. In Welsh, the sword is called Caledfwlch. Excalibur is often associated with mystical powers. Excalibur
  3. 3. In an original poem, Excalibur is the Sword in the Stone, which only the rightful kind of England can draw. Excalibur
  4. 4. In another version, the Sword in the Stone is a different one, which Arthur breaks after drawing it and becoming king. He is then given Excalibur by the Lady of the Lake. Excalibur
  5. 5. Arthur made his headquarters at Camelot. Excalibur
  6. 6. There he formed the Knights of the Round Table. The concept being that a round table indicated they were all equal. Excalibur
  7. 7. Depending on which version, there was some funny stuff between Lancelot and Arthur’s wife, Guinevere, etc. etc. Excalibur
  8. 8. While Arthur lies dying after battling Mordred, he orders Sir Bedivere to throw the sword in the lake. Excalibur
  9. 9. The historical basis for King Arthur has long been debated among scholars. Some see him as a Romano-British leader who fought against the invading Anglo-Saxons. Others as an earlier Welsh king. Excalibur
  10. 10. Regardless, the legend of King Arthur and the sword, Excalibur, has echoed down the ages to the present day; portrayed in many films and books. Excalibur
  11. 11. What if Excalibur is the key to a weapon? One that is much more powerful than simply a sword? A weapon that can protect our planet? Excalibur
  12. 12. Area 51: Excalibur Two ancient rivals from another world are vying to dominate Earth, and Mike and his team must choose which army to side with.
