  1. 1. The B e a r c a t Summer Internship The Pilot Year Summer 2011 International School Manila

The Program <ul><li>a four day summer internship right after high school finishes in June with various companies in the Metro Manila area. </li></ul><ul><li>during this internship, students would essentially work (without pay of course) at a particular company, handling various level appropriate responsibilities </li></ul><ul><li>job shadowing a selected employee or employees would also be a part of the internship. For some placements it could be a significant part of the placement. </li></ul>
  3. 3. The Internship The internship may continue after June 17 th (i.e. for an extended part of the summer). This would be based on each company’s needs. It would be a negotiation between the student/family and the company and outside the supervision/responsibility of International School Manila. Most will be 4 day placements .

  6. 6. How to Apply <ul><li>Resume on Family Connection (completed, saved as a PDF and email to me by May 20) </li></ul><ul><li>Short Essay Question (complete and email it back to me by May 20) </li></ul><ul><li>Student Application (see next slide) </li></ul>

Student Application <ul><li>You will receive it from Mr. McQueen on May 16. </li></ul><ul><li>You complete it (you must indicate your preferences of placements…#1 ADB, #2 Alaska Milk etc.). </li></ul><ul><li>You email it to Mr. McQueen by May 20. </li></ul><ul><li>You also print it out and get it signed (you and your parent’s signature). Bring it in to Mr. McQueen by May 20. </li></ul>

What will happen next? <ul><li>An internship committee will select among all the applicants, those that have a combination of a strong application and an overall “good fit” with a particular company. </li></ul><ul><li>Students will be notified via email on if they have been accepted and placed into a company. </li></ul><ul><li>Pre Internship Meeting (date not set but before June 2) with Mr. McQueen (prepare for the “Meet and Greet”). </li></ul><ul><li>Interns will be required to attend a “Meet and Greet” on June 2 after school. This is a meeting between Interns and Company representatives. </li></ul><ul><li>Students complete the internship (June 13, 14, 15, and 16). </li></ul><ul><li>Student meet with Mr. McQueen in the HS Guidance office on June 17 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. </li></ul>
