Graduation Requirements In order to graduate from ISM (IB Diploma, IB Certificate, or Non IB) you must achieve a certain number of credits in certain subject areas before your senior year finishes. Not only will achieving these credits give you a well rounded education by the time you finish high school, colleges generally require a minimum amount of study in certain subject areas. Our graduation requirements reflect what colleges are typically expecting from their future applicants . English (4 credits) Fine/Performing Arts (2 credits) Math (2 credits/3 recommended) Modern Languages (2 credits) P.E. (2 credits) Science (2 credits/3 recommended) Social Studies (2 credits/3 recommended) Wellness/Computer Literacy (1 credit) Electives (6 credits)
4 Year Plans/Planners A personal document/record of all the high school courses you are planning to take during your time at ISM (4 years). A way for YOU to keep track of courses you have TAKEN (graduation requirements) and what you WILL TAKE (example – future IB classes) while you are here at ISM. It is something you will periodically review each year review (deleting/adding/altering entries) as you head towards graduation, so it accurately reflects your progress and any changes to your original plan. Backwards Planning – Some courses have pre-requisites - If I want to take two sciences during the IB program, what should I be or need to be taking now? A very important communication tool for you, your parents and your high school counselor as you chart your educational/career path.
Step 1 Log on to Family Connection (email) If you do not have login information or you have forgotten your information, please contact your HS Counselor ASAP. Click “ document library ” located near the top right of the opening page.
Step 2 Click “ 4-Year Plan ” to access the three different four year plan templates we have. AND/OR Click “ 4-Year Plan: SAMPLES ” to access various samples of completed plans to help you.
Step 3 When you click “ 4-Year Plan ” you will see three possible plans. Pick the 4 year plan template for you and click “View”. IB Diploma IB Transdisciplinary Diploma IB Certificate/Non IB Diploma
Step 4 Open and save the template of your choice somewhere safe on your computer. For many of you it will be the IB Diploma version.
Step 5 Select the courses that you are currently taking in grade 9 and SAVE IT!!! Then look ahead to grade 10 and make some tentative choices. You will be making official choices during the week beginning February 21 st . Discuss with your parents (implications for IB)
Uploading the 4 Year Plan to Family Connection
Step 1 Log on to Family Connection using the login information we sent you earlier this year. If you have forgotten your login information or you are recently new, you need to contact your counselor to arrange for login information (your responsibility). After logging in, click the “About Me” tab
Step 2 Click the “ Journa l Tab Then click “+ add new entry”
Step 3 Fill in the appropriate information in the spaces provided Type –”Plan” Subject – “Rajon Rondo’s Four Year Plan – January 12, 2011” Share with – “Counselors”
Step 4 Click “Browse” to search for the completed 4 Year Plan you saved on your computer earlier. Click “Attach” to attach the 4 year plan to the journal entry Click “Add Journal Entry”
Your Small Assignment! Complete the Four Year Plan for grade 9 and 10 (you may want to look ahead to grade 11 and 12 as well) and save it. Upload it to Family Connection (as a Journal Entry) Please complete this by Monday January 17 th (discuss with parents) TODAY - Room 1086 – right after Block F until 3:30 pm
