Scheduled to open in November, the project will 44(Columbus) manufacturing facility create 40 jobs with an annual payroll of $1.3 million. Many of the new jobs will be for lab technicians. CHICAGO: The 2020 team attended the Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Conference. The 2013 conference will be held from May 15 - May 18 in Columbus. PHOENIX: The 2020 team attended the Area Development Consultants Forum, engaging with a number of national and global site location advisors. With a presence in the Columbus Region since 1985, thecompany already has 1,500 employees and a payroll of $66.5million at its campus. The new jobs will add $7.6 million to the Jobs: 162payroll. Work on the project is expected to begin in July, with Capital Investment: $76.2 millioncompletion by August 2013. Facility: Data centerIn addition to the Columbus Region, Discover considered 97,000 sflocations in Arizona and South Carolina for the project. If theyhad selected an alternative location, there would have been therisk of jobs lost due to eventual consolidation away from theRegion. Key to the deal was a long-term plan, including state andlocal tax incentives and a lease agreement with the FranklinCounty Finance Authority, who will own the data center. 4
