  9. 9. WHERE ARE YOU UP TO IN YOUR OWN PATH? WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES FACING CLUB MEMBERS? HOW WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR SUPPORT SERVED?
  10. 10. CHOOSING A PATH • Challenge: • New members and existing members reluctant to choose a Path without adequate information about them • Use of the self-assessment tool before choosing a Path requires more time to consider responses • Solutions: • Provide extra handouts to find out more about each Path • Paths and Levels Catalog • Six page summary • Provide a copy of the entire set of self-assessment questions in print format
  11. 11. EVALUATION RESOURCES • Challenges: • Regimented, numerical part of the proforma does not suit all projects • Evaluators would rather have more room to write their feedback • Evaluators often ‘whitewash’ rather than provide constructive criticism • Solutions: • More guidance needed in club meetings for using the proforma • Educationals on how to provide more constructive criticism • Important to give a written evaluation back to the speaker at the meeting • Request anecdotal feedback from other meeting attendees
  12. 12. NAVIGATING IN BASE CAMP • Challenges: • Initial difficulty in understanding the terminology used • Technical hurdles when activating a project and viewing the popup window • Confusion when tracking progress in the Transcript • Solutions: • Provide an overview of the Base Camp Glossary of terms • Provide easy visual steps to activate, launch, view projects • Provide advice on correct procedure for completion of projects, levels and paths
  13. 13. TUTORIALS AND RESOURCES • Challenge: • Wide variety of choice is confusing at first • Process for selecting and viewing not intuitive • Solutions: • Provide advice to members on which Tutorials and Resources are most useful at each stage of their engagement with Base Camp • Educationals to showcase the process for selection and viewing
  14. 14. WHERE ARE YOU UP TO IN YOUR OWN PATH? WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES FACING CLUB MEMBERS? HOW WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR SUPPORT SERVED?
  15. 15. PATHWAYS GUIDES SUPPORT OPTIONS • Challenges: • Timing for many clubs in the rollout to Region 12 (Dec 2017) has disadvantaged clubs retention of information from the PG visits and presentations (Oct/Nov 2017) • Result: Virtual Support Sessions not widely accessed by BCMs in clubs during January/February • Solutions: • Acknowledge the delay in ‘on boarding’ Pathways by members due to Summer break from club meetings in Dec 2017 and Jan 2018 and provide extended access to PG support in Mar/Apr 2018
  16. 16. INDIVIDUAL CLUB SUPPORT • Challenges: • Need for clear directions for ‘on boarding’ members into Pathways • Need for modifying virtual support by Pathways Guide to whole club • Individuals and clubs have different needs and different questions • Solutions: • Provide a Pathways Survival Kit including : useful resources, planned mentoring, and modified club meeting agenda items • Engage with individual clubs to survey their needs in Mar/Apr and provide flexible virtual sessions • Encourage the collation of questions prior to flexible sessions and include an open discussion about those
  17. 17. CHANGEOVER OF CLUB EXECUTIVES • Challenges: • Extra tasks required of the VPE in being the ‘champion’ for Pathways • As new executives begin their roles in July, loss of continuity of knowledge of Base Camp Manager tasks • Solutions: • During March to June encourage an Assistant to shadow the role of the VPE and help with other tasks (club succession planning) • Encourage at least one of the trio of BCMs to continue in their role for continuity and assistance in next six months (eg Secretary)
