In the past, paintings and statues were like architecture today : they served a specific purpose. Images were closely linked to reality If we take an image of our favorite movie star, we don’t want to pole needles in their eyes. Somewhere remains the feeling that we do it to the person. Very tiny difference between the image and the reality. It’s always been like this.
