Our target is enterprise customers who are looking for solutions fully tested and validated solution for performance and scalability with advanced management capabilities (We are not targeting Web 2.0 customers.)We are focusing on 3 domains in the big data scape:1. MPP Database – there are scale-out databases for enterprise DW. Dealing with structured data. We are partnering with ParAccel and EMC Greenplum2. NO SQL – is the emerging platform in the unstructured data management space. We are partnering with Oracle with their “Oracle No SQL database” a districted key value store database based on their “Berkeley” DB. Another partnership here is “MarkLogic” which is a commercial document store. Other examples of “NoSQL Database” are Cassandra (Open source based key-value store), MongoDB (Open source based document database). 3. Hadoop – As you know is platform for storing and processing large amounts of data, very popular in the Web 2.0 space. We are seeing increasing interest for it from enterprise also (why ? Cost and scalability it offers. And there is no single vendor lock-ins). We are partnering with Greenplum/MapR and Cloudera. UCS is the exclusive h/w reference platform for Greenplum/MapR. We have several customer’s running Cloudera also. Our offer here is a “ Common platform architecture”, built using:6200 series FI – high speed connectivity, embedded managementC-Series rack mount servers – C210 M2/C240 M3 which give the right balance of compute, storage capacity and IO bandwidthUCS Manager: deploy, manage, monitor
Another unique benefit that we can offer is the ability to manage existing/new “enterprise applications” and emerging “big data applications” from the same management domain. This is enabled by the unique capability of Cisco UCS to transparently integrate and manage infrastructure for running traditional enterprise applications like Oracle RAC on Cisco UCS B-Series Blade Servers (typically deployed with enterprise SAN storage arrays) with infrastructure for deploying Big Data on Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers (with internal storage capacity and bandwidth).
