Romantic Relationships Campaign –Heart Blast Letter “L”
Bible verse 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Don’t you just love it when your significant other expresses love to you in any way especially in
your love language? And then you get all mushy inside and do the same thing so the love just
keeps on going strong. I love that; so let’s talk about that some more. Heart Blast Letter “L” is
for Love. If you don’t have a foundation of love in your relationship then you will be miserable. I
know of a friend who is involved with a guy who is super needy and very annoying and she is a
giver and he is a taker, so there is not a whole lot of mutual love going on there so she is quite
miserable, but unfortunately she takes it. She is worth more than that and I hope one day she
sees that. No woman wants that and I don’t believe any man wants this either. We all want to
be loved and that means we need to give love and show love too. What in the world are you in
the relationship for if you don’t want to receive love and give love? Oh, I know, too many
insecure people who have no or very little self-worth and they get involved with the first person
that comes along, and they stay with that person because they are too scared to fish around for
the right one. God forbid I leave this relationship and there is no one in the world full of billions
of people left for me. Really? Come on, we all can wait and we all deserve to be loved and that
means we have to fish around for the right one. Otherwise you won’t get the love you desire

and you will have a hard time giving it. If you know your worth then you know exactly what that
looks like.
Let me give you some visuals: You get love notes or love letters sometimes or all the time and
you do the same for your sweetie, you cook for your honey and your honey cooks for you (who
cares if he or she burns it, it’s the thought and effort that counts), you buy a nice gift for your
babe and your babe buys a nice gift for you, you hold hands, you take turns taking the other out
on a date, you cuddle during a movie, you send sweet text messages back and forth all the time
when you can’t see each other, you smooch and touch each other gently and sensually as much
as possible (touch is powerful), you go out of your way to make sure things around the house (if
you are married) are done to the specifications of your significant other and they do the same
for you, if you have kids you take turns taking care of them and playing with them when the
other needs a break, you draw up a bath when your sweetie comes home from a rough day at
work or school and they do the same for you, you communicate all the time about everything
whether it is good or bad, you are a shoulder to lean on when your honey cries for whatever
reason and you know you can lean on their shoulder when you need to cry, you avoid spending
too much time with the opposite sex because anything can go wrong if you do that, and your
sweetie pie makes sure he or she is careful about their interactions with the opposite sex as
well, you are first to say “I Love You” and sometimes your loved one is first to say “I Love You”
often and as much as possible. These are all important and vital expressions of love and if done
on a regular basis, which requires thoughtfulness and kindness, it can create a loving and lasting
and strong bond. Love is required, love is necessary, love is needed, love is wonderful. If you
don’t express your love then you could self-destruct because you have all these crazy feelings
going on inside of you and if you are too afraid to share them with the person you feel them for
then you can end up harming yourself or someone else. Unexpressed emotions and
unexpressed love can also lead to suicide. If you are not strong enough to handle feeling love
for another person or not strong enough to deal with what comes with love (and that can be
painful), then you may want to die and people take their lives because they are overwhelmed
all the time. I don’t want any of you to do that or even contemplate it if you currently have
unexpressed feelings that you don’t know how to express or share.
So, my suggestion when it comes to loving another person is to find some kind of way to tell
them. Write a letter, send a text to meet with them and talk to them about what you are
feeling, send an email, tell a trusted third party so they can intervene and help move you two
closer together, friend them on social media and hopefully you can get an honest conversation
going eventually, tell a family member of theirs and ask for their help letting the person know
you love them and don’t know how to tell them, pick a flower and just hand it to them out of
the blue (this is so sweet and can open the door to conversation), get a bunch of friends
together to do something fun and make sure that person is invited so you can get closer to
them or feel safer talking to them about your feelings, write a poem expressing how you feel,
be sneaky if you have to and leave something behind that isn’t that valuable but you want back
and hopefully they will find a way to get it back to you and you can go from there. Don’t let fear

get in your way of showing love to someone you feel love for. Get out of your own way and
don’t allow anyone else to get in your way either.
Be careful when you share your feelings about someone with other people because people get
jealous and that means they can try to get in your way or sabotage something great you have or
may have going on. Be cautious about how much you share with others because you can end
up hurting the person instead of making sure they know how you feel. You don’t want to
confuse the one you love and I bet you wouldn’t want the one you love to confuse you. Put
yourself in their shoes, don’t be selfish and think about yourself so much. Maybe they love you
back and they need to know you feel the same way. What are they going through? Did you
think about that? Don’t take too long because that can lead to heartbreak for both of you and
that’s pointless, right. Again, if you have trepidation, proceed cautiously, but carefully and
mindfully so you don’t cause needless heartache. I always encourage people that share their
feelings for another person with me to trust their heart. The worst that could happen is the
other person rejects you or you get involved and it doesn’t work out in the end. So what. Move
on and love again. You still have plenty of love in your heart to give to someone else. Don’t give
up on love because if you don’t believe that you deserve whatever love comes your way then
you will push it away and sabotage it. Even if it looks too good to be true give it a shot and go
for it. Love is worth pursuing, feeling, experiencing and expressing. Think about how dogs give
love unconditionally. My dog always gets excited when he sees me and we have been buddies
for over ten years, that’s unconditional love. He knows when I am sad and I can tell him
anything and he just looks at me with those sweet puppy dog brown eyes and says “mom, I love
you no matter what you are talking about, I don’t care, I just love you.” That is divine, that is
priceless and dogs love us no matter how mad we get at them, if we leave them at home or in
the car too long, or are too tired to take them out for a walk, or forget to give them a treat that
day, or don’t feel like cuddling with them on the couch during a scary movie. That’s selfless
love, like a mother’s love, a child’s love and more importantly and better is God’s love. That is
why I chose the verse in 1 Corinthians because that is how we should love one another and
trust that we will receive that kind of love as well. It starts by putting lots of love out in the
universe no matter if you get it back or not. Just love, love, and love some more without
expecting anyone to love you back, and this will build up your self-esteemand sense of self-
worth. So when your true love comes along or you meet someone worth getting to know better
all you will know how to do is just love that person and you will feel good about it. Take the risk,
because love is a risk worth taking. And if you have made a mistake with the one you love just
apologize as soon as possible, explain yourself, pour your heart out and be honest and pray that
they will understand because you know they love you too.
You will never get to your destination if you just stand there looking around, right. You have to
move, take action, get up out of bed, put your clothes on, brush your teeth, wash your face, eat
breakfast, do your hair and walk out the door and keep walking until you get to where you need
to go. And so it is with love. If you don’t date, if you never speak, if you hide your feelings, if you
lie, if you cheat, if you give up, if you talk too much to the wrong people, if you underestimate

your worth, if you wait too long, if you have too much fear, then you lose, you get nothing and
you go nowhere. You are not living. Life will always take you somewhere where you have to
take a risk and life is all about loving which means you have to risk your heart if you want to be
with the one you love. Just do it!
