  3. 3. Starting PowerPoint<br />Must have Microsoft Office<br />Explorer<br />Start > Programs > Microsoft Office > PowerPoint<br />
  4. 4. The First Slide<br />When PowerPoint starts, you will see a window like this one.<br />
  5. 5. Typing in Text<br />1) Move your mouse to the rectangle that says Click to add title, click once, then start typing<br />2) Move your mouse to rectangle that says Click to add subtitle, click once, then start typing <br />
  6. 6. Adding a New Slide<br />Under the home tab, in the slide category- click New Slide, once … a new slide will appear<br />
  7. 7. Inserting Pictures<br />1) Click on the Insert tab on the top of the toolbar.<br />Choose Picture<br />
  8. 8. Inserting Pictures Cont.<br />1) When the Insert Picture dialog box opens<br />Choose the location of your file, for example, a pictures folder.<br />Click on the picture you want to add and it will appear on your slide <br />

Resizing Pictures<br />To move the picture on the slide<br />Click on it until the four-sided arrow appears<br />Don’t lift your finger from the mouse button and drag the mouse –and the picture– to its new location on the slide<br />To adjust the size of the picture<br />Click on its lower right corner until the resize double arrow appears<br />Don’t lift your finger from the mouse button and drag the mouse to resize the picture (“in” to make it smaller; “out” to make it bigger”)<br />

Changing Slide Design<br /><ul><li>You can change the background and colors on all your slides </li></ul>1) Click on the Design tab and hover the mouse over the slide design you want.<br />2) If you like the preview of the slide, click the Design style that you want to change the slide. <br />
  11. 11. Slide Animations<br /><ul><li>Separate your text into different text boxes</li></ul>if you want it to appear<br />at different times.<br />
  12. 12. Adding Animations Cont. <br />After adding the text boxes and pictures you want on the slide: <br />1) Hit the Animation Tab on the top toolbar<br />2) Choose Custom Animation …<br />

Adding Animations Cont. <br />1) Click once on the object you want to animate to activate it<br />Move your mouse to the Custom Animation tool that appears on the right side of the window and click on Add Effect<br />Choose the type of effect you want in the submenu that appears<br />Choose the specific effect in the next submenu<br />
  14. 14. Other Advise<br /><ul><li>Use keywords and phrases – not sentences
  15. 15. Use slides to guide your presentation not give it
  16. 16. Keep plenty of “white space” on your slides</li></li></ul><li>Other Advise<br /><ul><li>Keep your slide design and animation simple
