Teamwork
Spent a year working within a very small tight-knit team learning to rely on them for support
where needed and supporting the rest of the team where possible. Have worked collaboratively
on a large project with another developer very effectively. Project involved the creation of
workflows to regulate certain processes, two had been built before I joined the project six more
have been built subsequently at a far greater rate.
Worked effectively as part of a team to complete a first year assignment. Responsible for writing
several of the functions (sub programs) required for the overall program that was that assignment.
Active member of the Chelmsford Kazen Kai Karate Club
Adaptability
On several occasions had to work with unfamiliar software or get to grips with custom
applications surrounding application I was responsible for in a short time span and was able to
resolve the issue or complete the development work in time.
As an example of the above I was given two reports I had never seen before and asked to build a
new crystal report that combined data columns from both reports. This required finding the
reports, working out how the data was calculated and then building the report using a piece of
software I had never worked with before. Although it was difficult due to the complexity of the
data involved the work was completed before the deadline largely without assistance.
Learned a new programming language in a short space of time so that I was able to perform my
work at G P Masons effectively.
3. Time Management & Organization
In my job at spicerhaart I had to balance working on development support calls with working on
items in my product backlog as well as work on the other applications I was responsible for.
Doing this required good organization with all work on support calls and backlog items well
documented so it was possible to switch between the two and come back to tasks again later.
➢Throughout my studies by prioritizing my given tasks I have completed all assignments and
met all deadlines, while volunteering and taking an active role in clubs relating to sport and other
interests
Leadership
➢Acting on own initiative, took the lead during the team assignment where I was responsible for
organizing and motivating the team as well as completing an equal share of the work and writing
the final evaluation. In this role I had to overcome the issue of a consistently absent team member.
Able to lead by example, producing quality work ahead of deadlines to give fellow team
members a format they can use as a guideline in their own work which helped ensure the project
was completed more quickly.
Communication
Have gained an appreciation for the level of communication required from recent work
experience. Understand the importance of prompt responses to all queries and instructions even if
the answer takes time to find.
Effective communication skills developed though my voluntary work and my jobs involving
working in a team such as my work experience servicing cars at Volkswagen.
