The role of Huda will be to reduce the estate management and managing unsold plots in the sectors that are developed by it. Certainly, Huda has to shift the focus towards offering affordable housing to the lower income groups and the middle class as well. It was till now catering to the upper-middle and middle classes.   3. 3. Gurgaon, in the long run, will have two major agencies MCG and GMDA. GMDA will offer some external development as well as infrastructure development while the MCG will look at the internal development, maintenance and development of the civic amenities in the colonies and areas under the municipal limits. Also, Huda will continue to exist but will also have no specific role in maintaining and providing the civic amenities. Reason for the focus on providing affordable housing Under the Haryana Government’s Affordable Housing Policy, almost 300 acres were reserved for similar projects in Gurgaon. Till date, the Haryana Government has given almost 135 licenses for over 162 acres of which 29,160 units of affordable housing projects are under- construction. Beside this, there are almost 8,000 affordable homes that Huda will build for lower income groups in last 5 years which are unoccupied. Various times in past few years, the authority has invited the applications for the allotment of the homes but there were no takers. This makes the success of Huda venture into the affordable housing a bit questionable. As per experts, there are some complex issues that are related to the affordable housing projects as well as a policy that will be formed and will lay on a roadmap for similar projects describing the Huda’s responsibilities and role. Huda has transferred most of the sectors. The remaining sectors will be transferred very soon.
